Department Summary

The Department of Global (International) Studies, University of Oregon invites applicants for its open Pro Tem instructor and Pro Tem faculty pool, which we establish to have applications on file when openings become available.
Position Summary
The appointee will teach in the Department of Global (International) Studies. Teaching will be primarily at the undergraduate level but may involve assignments at the graduate level. The full-time course load is nine courses per year, three per term. Instructional needs would most likely be in lower-division courses, including large lecture courses. The department often hires an instructor(s) to teach Introduction to International Issues, INTL 101, (survey of major political, economic, and cultural themes in international studies through in-class debates on key contemporary issues), and Special Studies: Globalization and the Global Economy, INTL 199, (provide students with tools to understand and explain developments in the global economy and to investigate critical problems and debates in the global economy). The Department of Global (International) Studies may have occasional additional needs in courses related to globalization, development, environment, communication, health, and human rights. Advising students during office hours and participating in assessments as part of teaching duties are expectations of the appointments. Pro Tem faculty are not required but are welcome to participate in departmental service. Positions are for one year or less, with the possibility of renewal for up to three years based on need and performance. - Master's Degree in International or Global Studies or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated successful college-level teaching experience appropriate to our needs and to our existing programs.

- Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds.
