Carnegie Mellon University's division of Student Affairs is searching for multiple Housefellow and Coordinator of Residential Education roles. Housefellows within Residential Education are principal contributors to the residential student experience and coordinate key critical initiatives within Residential Education that serve the broader student experience while working with campus-wide programmatic initiatives designed to enhance student development. Encompassing more than a traditional residence life position, the Housefellow's role involves serving as students' primary metacurricular advocate at the university while enhancing their social, academic, intellectual, artistic and personal development.

Core responsibilities will include:
  • Owning the creation of a thriving residential experience through ensuring the execution of the residential curriculum as curated by Residential Education. Serving as a conduit for connecting students to the broader metacurricular experience of Carnegie Mellon University.
  • Select, train, lead, supervise and evaluate a team of Community Advisor(s) (CA) and Resident Assistants (RA).
  • Serve as primary university contact and advocate for students living within a designated residential house community. Providing one-on-one mentorship, support and guidance to students through individual relationships aimed at enhancing student success.
  • Coordinate emergency response and on-going case management for designated residential population. Serve in Student Affairs on-call rotation for campus crisis response.
  • Manage House budget, overseeing community expenses related to programming and community development.
  • Liaise and collaborate with campus partners including but not limited to Housing Services, Division of Student Affairs, College Liaisons, Counseling and Psychological Services, and academic partners to provide community and student support
  • Other duties as assigned

In addition to fulfilling the responsibilities of the Housefellow role, Coordinators for Residential Education also oversee and coordinate a strategic initiative within Residential Education. The strategic initiatives within Residential Education currently align to the core objectives of our residential curriculum, student staff selection, training and development, leadership development, and student success. Candidates with strengths in one or more of these areas should highlight their experiences in the cover letter.

The Housefellow role at Carnegie Mellon is a live-on role that serves in the Student Affairs emergency response duty rotation to ensure appropriate management of campus emergencies and crisis. Housefellows are provided university-owned or -managed housing that is proximate to campus.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs or related field required; and
  • Minimum one to three years full-time experience in a student affairs role required

This salary range for this position is $47,500-$48,500.
