*Work Schedule and Hours:*Typical hours are Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with flexibility for evenings and weekends as needed to achieve the office goals.

*Position Summary:*The Director of Study Abroad/Study Away Programs provides leadership, administrative oversight, and support for UNC Asheville’s off-campus study opportunities. The director works collaboratively with UNC Asheville faculty and the UNC system to develop and support international programs that align with and enhance students’ liberal arts education.

The position has an important strategic portfolio: designing and implementing diverse, off-campus programming and international opportunities for students and faculty, advising on the integration of study abroad into the undergraduate curricula, and developing new international partnerships. In addition, the Director has significant operational responsibilities: coordinating critical management tasks with staff of the Global Studies Center, leading the Study Abroad Office by supervising, hiring and training professional and support staff, and preparing and overseeing the annual budgets and working closely with faculty.

*Required Education/Experience/Skills:*A master’s degree and/or equivalent professional experience.Three years’ experience in a college or university Study Abroad office.
*Preferred Education/Experience/Skills:*Five years of professional experience in study abroad and international education with increasing responsibilities for planning, supervision and budgeting.

Experience operating Terra Dotta software or other online application management software.
*Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :*
* Extensive knowledge and experience of Study Abroad/Study Away opportunities
* Ability to form national and international partnerships with universities, civic organization, and other institutions.
* Ability to present information effectively to students, faculty, and staff.
* Ability to lead professional development programs for faculty.
* Knowledge of immigration, visa, immunization, and other formalities required for Study Abroad and international exchange.
* Knowledge of financial aid and scholarship programs, policies, and procedures, as well as international credit evaluation.
* Overseas work, study, or travel experience.
