The Refrigeration School, Inc (RSI) trains in the technical services that are needed today and challenges each student to reach their highest level of academic knowledge and leadership capabilities. RSI offers not only HVAC/R/ training but also assistance in applying for financial aid and our Career Development staff works with each graduate to help them find the right employment.
The Refrigeration School is currently seeking a Student Advisor. In this rewarding position, you will be responsible for dealing with students in matters such as attendance issues, grades, satisfactory academic progress, leave of absence requests, and terminations and answer questions and provide information as needed. This position also focuses on retention and oversees the reinstatement process.
In the Student Advisor role, you will:
• Number one priority is student retention and satisfaction, which is monitored through reports and surveys, as well as face-to-face interaction with students and staff• Monitors Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) at the end of each phase, prints SAP Failure Letters and has each student who fails SAP sign the form after discussing the issues that may have caused or contributed to the problem. Also offers assistance if needed• Enters notes in the computer system to backup all handwritten documentation for SAP Failure, Leave of Absence requests, Withdrawal and information explaining reasons for a student's absence• Monitors attendance daily, makes calls to find out the reasons for a student's absences and encourages students to attend while emphasizing the importance of satisfactory attendance in order to graduate• Schedules, organizes and informs students of meeting with the Appeals Committee• Schedules student's meetings with the Reinstatement Committee• Other duties as assigned
Requirements:• Associate's Degree preferred• 2 years related experience/training• Great phone skills• Can-do and whatever-it-takes attitude• Ability to work individually and within a group• Excellent written and communication skills• Computer proficiency using Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, and Outlook) required• CampusVue experience preferred• Candidates must be able to successfully pass a criminal history check and drug testEducationPreferredAssociates or better
