Position Summary
TheNYU Gallatin School of Individualized Study (https://gallatin.nyu.edu/) seeks a Director, Student Affairs to direct the long-range planning, implementation, and provision of services and programs to troubled Gallatin students and Gallatin students at risk. Collaborate with School faculty and administrators to assess students' academic interests and non-academic needs; plan, manage, implement and assess major non-curricular programs and special events for troubled students (e.g workshops, printed and web-based resources, etc.). Plan and direct the provision of support services to students-at-risk and students with emergencies. Provide advisement, special services and advocacy for students in distress. Develop resources for and consult with faculty concerning troubled students. Represent the School on University-wide committees and serve as liaison to University departments. Supervise staff. Plan and manage student affairs budget. Teach one course and serve as primary academic adviser to students.
Qualifications
Required Education:Master's Degree MSW or Doctoral Degree ABDPreferred Education:Doctoral Degree PhDRequired Experience:7+ years Relevant experience developing and managing implementation of student affairs services for a diverse student body at a college or university level, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must include experience with special events planning, budget administration and staff managementPreferred Experience:7+ years Experience advising or counseling students, assessing program needs and marketing programsRequired Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Strong leadership skills Excellent interpersonal, public speaking and writing skills Ability to counsel and appropriately refer students to available resources, especially counseling and wellness resources Ability to execute multiple initiatives simultaneously, promote teamwork, and serve as ambassador for the School and department Ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels Knowledge of standard office applications
