It is the mission of the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) to impact and transform young lives, strengthenfamilies, and support safer communities through targeted prevention and rehabilitation.
Job Purpose:
Participates with state agencies, organizations that are involved with at-risk youth and job readiness and career development programs/services. Assists in the
development of policy and procedures, and the planning, implementation, evaluation, monitoring, and revision of the aforementioned programs in accordance with legislative mandates and Agency Mission.
Job Duties:
Assists in implementing and directing youth employment readiness training and services to youth associated with the Midlands Region of the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice.
Implements and directs re-entry services to youth associated with Birchwood School District of the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice.
Assists in accomplishing the goals and objectives of the Career Readiness Center (CRC) by helping the Program Director. Assists the manager of the CRC with the DMV project and its success.
Assists in developing partnerships with a wide range of state agencies, corporate and small businesses to support long-term and short-term employment and training opportunities for clients.
Designs effective marketing strategy and public relations programs to ensure the target population is informed of the programs and services within the Midlands Region.
Provides direct employment services to clients that result in employment placement, attainment of certifications, and continued education.
Makes referrals to SC Works, VRD, and other employment services and training programs to place clients into jobs, education opportunities, certification programs, and military services.
Performs other related duties as required by the Career Readiness Center (CRC) and Career and Opportunities Development.
Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelor's degree

Candidates must present documentation of their attainment of a college degree(s) at the time of the interview. Documentation must be either an official or unofficial copy of the college transcript or a Letter of Verification of Degree from the institution's Registrar's Office.
Additional Requirements:
Knowledge of the principles and theories of student development and educational administration. Knowledge of the techniques of individual, group, and career counseling (CDF).
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
This position reports to the Student Services Manager of Career and Opportunities Development; we receive annually scheduled Performance Evaluations.
Knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, and procedures relevant to the area of employment; ability to exercise judgment and discretion.
Must be able to work in a high-stress, high-traffic/fast-paced environment; and have the flexibility to work some evenings and weekends.
Moderate lifting of 40 lbs. or less, long periods of sitting and working at a computer monitor. Capable of attending overnight training and workshops.
This position performs job duties relating to the custody, control, transportation, or recapture of youth within the Department of Juvenile Justice jurisdiction. The employee may have direct and indirect contact with youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice. Training applicable to these duties will be provided.

A bachelor's degree and experience in student services programs.
