GSPP was created in 1976 to house one of the first Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) programs in the country, under the Vail (practitioner-scholar) training model. GSPP currently also offers four specialized master's programs: Forensic Psychology, International Disaster Psychology: Trauma and Global Mental Health, Sport and Performance Psychology, and Sport Coaching, as well as online certificates and continuing education. The School also has a partially affiliated, APA-accredited internship consortium and several in-house and satellite psychology training clinics that serve Denver and the surrounding communities. As a professional school, GSPP promotes and utilizes high-level pedagogy that integrates applied practice, theory, research, and scholarship.
GSPP seeks to train students to provide culturally competent services to clients and the community. Although more progress is needed, GSPP endeavors to create an accessible, affirming, and safe climate by actively engaging in the process of systemic transformation and accountability.
Position Summary
The Graduate School of Professional Psychology (GSPP) at the University of Denver is seeking a faculty member for a full-time, 10-month, benefited, Tenure-Track faculty position. This faculty member will have duties in teaching including advising and clinical supervision, applied research and scholarly productivity, and service. There may be opportunities to add administrative appointments to the job description, which would come with a renegotiation of the job duties and designated percentages.
Tenure-track faculty are typically expected to teach 6 courses across fall, winter, and spring quarters, with releases possible for administrative or grant-related duties. Scholarly duties include conducting and guiding applied sponsored projects, mentoring/supervising student participation in that work, producing scholarly work and securing external funding. All externally funded projects/research will be factored into workload and pay through course buyouts and/or non-teaching overloads (i.e., summer pay). In this role, you are strongly encouraged to spend at least 25% of your time on externally sponsored projects (e.g., grants, philanthropy, etc.). Applicants with a proven track record of securing and managing external funding will be given priority. Service expectations include participating as a core faculty member in the department and across the University and in the field (such as, participating in student competency exams, faculty meetings, the admissions process, and/or on university and national committees). In addition, GSPP requires all faculty and staff to exhibit excellent citizenship and pursue professional development to foster a model workplace.
Appointment and promotion for this role will be governed by the University of Denver's Policies and Procedures Relating to Faculty Appointment, Promotion & Tenure. This tenure-track position will be filled at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank and will be appointed at the rank appropriate for the candidate's documented experience and excellence in the field:
Assistant Professors will be candidates in the first two to seven years of experience post-doctorate with strong, documented potential for excellence in teaching and research. Appointments at this rank will have a maximum of six years of service prior to consideration for promotion and tenure, and a mid-tenure review will occur half-way through the appointment time at the assistant rank.
Associate Professors will be candidates who are mid-career teacher/scholars with a strong, documented record of excellence in research, teaching, and service. If the chosen candidate is deemed to have background and experience commensurate with this rank, consideration for tenure may be completed at the time of hire.

2. Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
3. Noise level is quiet to moderate.
Physical Activities
1. Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time.
2. Ability to sit or stand in front of a classroom for an extended period of time.
3. Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.
Work Schedule
While the university's business hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., courses run 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., so course schedules may require evening teaching.

Essential Functions
Teaching and Advising
- Teach practice-informed courses to fulfill needs of the MAIDP program, with the teaching load and specific courses to be determined in discussions with the MAIDP Co-Directors and Associate Dean.
- Provide high-quality advising for students in accordance with GSPP, higher education accreditation standards, and DU protocols.
- Maintain high teaching standards informed by best practices in pedagogy and leveraging available technologies to improve the student experience.
- Provide clinical supervision and participation in competency exams.
- Pursue professional development to enhance leadership.
- Review evaluations by students in order to address concerns.
- Work closely with program directors, faculty advisors, clinic assistants, and staff to ensure developmental goals are being met for student advisees.
- Create effective quality assurance processes to ensure required student paperwork is correctly completed.
Scholarship - Conduct sponsored projects related to Global Mental Health, Disaster Mental Health and/or Trauma.
- Supervise and mentor student participation on sponsored projects.
- Produce scholarly work through peer reviewed publications and professional presentations.
- Secure and manage external funding for projects and research.
- Create fundraising and grant-writing opportunities to pursue meaningful opportunities for innovation and partnership.
- Actively participate in the oversight and development of externally funded projects.
- Exhibit good citizenship through collaboration and service on committees to support GSPP, the University, community, and national and global efforts to improve the practice of psychology.
- Participate in the MAIDP admissions process.
- Uphold GSPPs commitment to inclusive excellence and to be a model workplace through all professional activities.
- Receive and provide mentorship and constructive feedback.
- There are currently three administrative appointments in the MAIDP program that are reimbursed by course buy-outs (Director of Program, Director of Field Placements & Director of the Trauma Disaster Recovery Clinic). If one becomes available, the selected candidate will be eligible to apply for one of these appointments.
- Extensive knowledge in the field of global mental health and/or disaster mental health, intervention, applied research and/or program evaluation
- Knowledge of the intersection of global public health, global mental health delivery and/or disaster mental health
- Knowledge and skills to effectively engage with diverse individuals and communities
- Strong teaching and interpersonal skills
- A doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology or a closely related field
- Licensed or licensed-eligible as an LPC or psychologist in Colorado
- At least two years of training, supervision and/or sponsored project experience at the doctoral level
- Experience in the area of global mental health and/or disaster mental health
- Experience teaching at the graduate level
- Experience securing and managing external funding
