The Regional Assistant Director of Admissions will serve as an ambassador for Temple University to prospective students, families, counselors, community-based organizations and other key education stakeholders. The Assistant Director will be primarily responsible for promoting Temple and the City of Philadelphia as a college destination for students from outside Pennsylvania. This position will be based in New York and recruit within specifically designated areas in New York as well as New England. The Assistant Director will travel heavily to conduct outreach and recruitment initiatives aimed at cultivating interest in Temple. Gives presentations, speaks in front of large and small audiences, meets regularly with counselors, hosts receptions, staff college fairs, and conducts workshops and programming directly related to the admission and financial aid process. Conducts extensive follow-up communication with students and families who have expressed interest in Temple. Participates fully in the evaluation and selection process of first year candidates for admission. Reads applications and makes decisions on a large volume of admission candidates. The Assistant Director will be required to travel to Temple’s main campus in Philadelphia (2-3) times a year. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Please note this position will work remotely. The duration of remote work will be at the discretion of Temple University and the hiring department.

This position requires a background check and Child Abuse Certifications prior to the commencement of service.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and three years of directly related admissions, enrollment management, or recruiting experience in a higher education environment. Experience speaking in front of large and small groups, to deliver information sessions, lectures, or speak at industry-specific conferences. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:
  • Demonstrated interest in working with high school students, parents, counselors and community-based organizations about the college admission and/or financial aid process.
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout a geographic region in the United States.
  • Must be able to travel to offsite locations that may not be accessible via public transportation using personal transportation.
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, along with the ability to effectively interact with a diverse group of students, parents, staff and faculty.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, along with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with student records.
  • Ability to lift boxes of promotional material of approximately 20 pounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize an electronic student information system.
  • Ability to work nights and/or weekends, as needed.
