Job Description
Under the direction of the Director of International Student Advising, this position serves as a lead for the Student Advising team supervising, coordinating and managing unit-wide advising practices and communications to stakeholders relevant to governmental F-1 regulations.

Essential Duties
- Support the ISSC student advising team on immigration matters for F-1 students at all ASU campus locations with a specific focus on engineering students.
- Lead assigned staff members in developing consistent advising practices and improved workflow for SEVIS transactions and immigration document processing.
- Oversee the development and execution of communications and multi-media strategies aimed at engaging with the international student population.
- Provide oversight to sensitive and complex student immigration cases.
- Lead training and support to advising team on office procedures, immigration regulations, and institutional policies.
- Oversee the maintenance of student files to ensure accurate record keeping and maintaining consistency of PeopleSoft, Sunapsis, and SEVIS records.
- Interface with Department of Homeland Security including Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), along with various units of Department of State and work with other DSO's to ensure consistent protocol regarding policies and procedures.
- Provide leadership and/or support in the SEVIS Compliance audit projects throughout the semester including SEVIS/Sunapsis alerts, enrollment, new student reporting, employment reporting and immigration compliance audits.
- Develop checklists and procedures for SEVIS processes using Sunapsis database.
- Serve as Designated School Official (DSO) for Arizona State University.
- Present ISSC workshops and other outreach efforts during orientation and with campus partners supporting international students.
- Represent the ISSC and serve on various department and university committees as assigned.
- Work closely and collaboratively with Director to identify, develop and implement annual team goals and objectives; participates in communication and monitoring of activities to ensure achievement.
- May act in place of the Director in that person's absence.
- Coordinate with Managers in office in overseeing advising processes relevant to their assigned teams.
- As requested/required, assist ISSC leadership with special projects and other assigned duties.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND six (6) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Ten (10) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience as a Designated School Official (DSO) or Alternate Responsible Office (ARO) for a higher education institution. (5 years).
- Experience using Sunapsis or similar immigration management software.
- Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
- Evidence of effective communication skills.
Working Environment
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; frequently required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
