The Southern California Regional Assistant Director for Admission works closely with the Lehigh Western Regional Office reporting to the Associate Vice Provost for Western Regional and International Recruitment to assist in implementing an effective and cohesive recruitment & enrollment plan for California. This includes implementing recruitment and yield events in Southern CA (Counties include; San Luis Obispo, Kern, San Bernardino, Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Diego and Imperial) to meet enrollment goals; conducting school visits; serving as a resource to external constituents around admissions and Lehigh; cultivating and maintaining communication and relations with high school officials, alumni, Community Based Organizations and other partners. 1. Regionally manage the Southern California recruitment market including cultivation of relationships with external constituents such as prospective high school students, guidance counselors, local alumni, independent counselors and representatives from Community-Based Organizations
*Assist in implementing a strategic plan for Southern California in collaboration with the Associate Vice Provost for Western Region and International Recruitment
*Plan and conduct recruitment travel to high schools and Community-Based Organizations in Southern California; this includes 12-15 weeks distributed between the fall and spring, with 4-5 daily visits to both public and private high schools
*Plan and conduct student recruitment programs, interviews and information sessions in person and virtually with some being in the evening or on weekends
*Assist with recruitment and marketing events throughout the Western region as needed, particularly in the Spring and Summer (e.g., counselor events, case study programs, panels, workshops, etc.)
*Coordinate follow-up communications with prospective students and counselors in order to cultivate strong relationships with Lehigh University
*Become familiar with the regional territory to maintain and create relationships with students and counselors
*Assist with analyzing territory enrollment trends in preparation for planning a strategic travel plan
*Assist with website and social media content development for the Western Regional Office

2. Evaluation of admissions applications
*Read and evaluate applications for admission based on a holistic rubric that factors a number of academic and non-academic variables, applying institutional values and goals
*Understand and interpret a variety of high school grading systems according to school profiles, in relation to academic strengths and potential for success in a rigorous college environment; this may include developing an understanding of international grading systems
*Engage in an application review process for five months of a calendar year; fulfill application reading goals on a daily, weekly and monthly schedule
*Identify and recommend students who are eligible for merit and special scholarships

3. Execution of virtual and in-person recruitment strategies
*Organize and participate in virtual and in-person recruitment programs/events
*Public presentation of information sessions to large and small groups of students, families or counselors, including the use of PowerPoint and video tools
*Engage in individual interviews with prospective students as assigned
*Counsel students, parents and high school counselors regarding Lehigh University's admission and financial aid processes, policies and procedures
*Assist with developing a communication plan specific to students within California
*Assist with creation of a California Peer Network Program that connects current students from California with prospective and admitted students to increase applications and yield

4. Cultivate and manage relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders on campus and within Southern California
*Maintain and build relationships with College Counselors, Community-Based Organizations and independent Counselors through email updates, conferences, programming, webinars and in person visits
*Demonstrate a willingness to be flexible as duties are assigned across in-person and virtual events
*Travel to campus to participate in training, file reading and other significant events that will take place during the course of the year; approximately 4 weeks, mainly in the summer, spring and fall, will be required on campus for meetings, events and in-office work
*Find ways to best utilize and engage current students, faculty, staff and alumni to conduct outreach to prospective and admitted students
*Represent Lehigh at professional conferences, workshops and events
*Other duties as assigned
