As a talented Assistant Director of Fitness, you will provide front line management and programming for an innovative, dynamic, and collaborative effort to promote a culture of well-being that celebrates movement and exercise and cultivates an environment where students, members, and guests can thrive. You, specifically, will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of personal training, small group training, group fitness programs, and various fitness events to the ECU community located on Main Campus, Health Sciences Campus, Coastal Studies Institute, Distance Education, and off-campus partner locations. In addition, you will have direct oversight of the fitness floors in CRW managed facilities. You will work alongside the Sr. Assistant Director of Fitness & Employee Well-Being to plan the evaluation and growth of structured and non-structured fitness programs. You will work closely with colleagues to market and evaluate world-class movement experiences and programs. Additionally, you will recruit, onboard, develop, supervise, and evaluate one (1) graduate assistant and multiple part-time student employees including program managers, group fitness instructors, personal trainers, small group training coaches, fitness attendants, and interns. You will have the opportunity to instruct one for-credit course in partnership with the College of Health & Human Performance on an as needed basis each semester. The Assistant Director of Fitness reports to the Sr. Assistant Director of Fitness & Employee Well-Being.

Essential Job Functions
You will dedicate energy to:
Talent Management - 35%
Ø Supervise, evaluate, and develop one (1) graduate assistant.
Ø Recruit, onboard, schedule, and evaluate multiple part-time student and contracted group fitness instructors, personal trainers, small group training coaches, fitness attendants, program managers, and interns.
Ø Develop a comprehensive employee experience strategy for direct and in-direct reports.
Ø Provide an environment that supports strengths-based learning through ongoing coaching conversations.
Ø Deliver frequent praise and recognition for excellent work.
Ø Create an environment where employees feel heard and appreciated for their contributions.
Ø Role model a management style that promotes well-being and self-care.
Program Management - 35%
Ø Provide front-line management, including marketing and evaluation, of a comprehensive movement & exercise program including group fitness, personal training, small group training, online training, general fitness, and special events for a multi-site location.
Ø Monitor expenditures and income of assigned operational, revenue, and grant budgets. Exceed annual revenue lines.
Ø Recommend program related purchases and assist with annual budget projections.
Ø Assess and evaluate programs with KPIs utilizing quantitative and qualitative data. Provide written quarterly and annual reports outlining successes, opportunities for growth, and recommendations.
Ø Create movement & exercise related educational content, programs, and support aligning with the program indicators of discover, explore, and live.
Ø Develop and nurture relationships with campus and community stakeholders.
Ø Represent the ECU community on local and regional health related committees/organizations.
Ø Provide support and collaboration to colleagues delivering public health content and programs including alcohol & other drugs, mental health & stress management, sexual health & healthy relationships, nutrition & body image, and overall well-being.
Ø Continue professional development through membership in professional organizations, attending and presenting at conferences and workshops, professional reading, and staying current with trends and issues pertinent to well-being. Contribute to scholarly articles, blogs, and publications.
Ø Other duties as assigned.
Instruction - 30%
Ø Teach or assist with two (2) NCCA accredited instructional courses that recruits, trains, and certifies group fitness instructors and personal trainers.
Ø Host and/or teach NCCA approved continuing education credit (CEC) workshops for staff to upskill and maintain certification.
Ø Teach various land and aquatic based group fitness classes on an as needed basis.
Ø Design and implement personalized exercise programs for clients both in-person and in online environments.
Ø Teach one academic class per semester for the College of Health and Human Performance or related college on an as needed basis.
