The Fletcher School is the United States first professional graduate school of international affairs. Since 1933, Fletchers multi-disciplinary education in international relations, law, and business, has prepared the worlds leaders to become innovative problem-solvers in government, the private sector, and non-governmental organizations. The primary aim of The Fletcher School is the same as it was when conceived by its founders in 1933: to offer a broad program of professional education in international relations to a select group of graduate students committed to maintaining the stability and prosperity of a complex, challenging and increasingly global society. The Schools mission remains (a) To educate professionals from around the world and to prepare them for positions of leadership and influence in the national and international arenas; (b) To increase understanding of international problems and concerns through teaching, research and publications; and (c) To serve local, national and international communities in their search to develop relationships of mutual benefit, security and justice in an increasingly interdependent world.
What You'll Do:

The Director of Admissions and Financial Aid provides strategic leadership of student recruitment strategies and oversees the admissions lifecycle of all Fletcher degree programs. Develops a clear enrollment and financial aid strategic plan, including cyclical recruitment and retention activities, outreach to prospective and admitted students, and diversity, equity, and inclusion goals. Directs the operations of the Fletcher Admissions and Financial Aid Office to meet enrollment and revenue objectives established by Tufts and Fletcher leadership.

Essential Functions:
  • Develops and executes an enrollment strategy consistent with school and institutional priorities, based on effective and innovative enrollment management practices, and in service to both enrollment and revenue targets established before each admissions cycle.
  • Oversees recruitment marketing and communications initiatives, in collaboration with the Fletcher Communications, Public Relations, and Marketing team, at the inquiry, application, admission, and matriculation stages. Develops and implements strategies for enhancing the quality and diversity of the student body.
  • Manages recruitment including campus, domestic, and international travel and supervises admissions officers, in the implementation of effective recruitment practices. Collaborates with Fletcher stakeholders, including academic and career advising, faculty, alumni, and graduate students, in-person and remote events, open houses, and student outreach.
  • Oversees the admissions selection process (application process, reading, review, selection, admissions committee) as well as all admissions and financial aid systems (Slate, SIS, PowerFaids).
  • Directs activities and communication streams for administering financial aid, and partners with Tufts Student Services and the Bursar in support of scholarship aid distributions. Administers the scholarship aid budget, stewardship, fellowship funds, and external scholarship aid, and resolves all financial award appeals.
  • Evaluates and enhances processes for providing financial aid counseling for Fletcher students consistent with school and institutional policy and practice and industry practices.
  • Manages departmental budget.
  • Manages Admissions and Financial Aid staff. Responsible for hiring, training, managing, and developing staff including coaching, performance reviews, and professional development.
  • Reports on admissions and financial aid statistics and initiatives (to administration, leadership, board).Oversees the maintenance of admissions and financial aid documentation.
  • Stays abreast of national and international trends in admissions and higher education.


What We're Looking For:

Basic Requirements:
  • Knowledge and skills as typically acquired through completion of Masters degree with 7-10 years of work experience in admissions roles with progressive responsibility
  • Proven experience and demonstrated success in the management of higher education admissions and student records systems and student data
  • Excellent judgment and experience making thoughtful decisions in complex, sensitive scenarios and under time constraints
  • Current and thorough knowledge of laws, trends, and practices related to higher education enrollment management practices
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to build strong relationships with members of diverse constituencies, and a successful track record of collaboration in achieving objectives
  • A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion goals in enrollment management and higher education practice

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Expert knowledge of higher education enrollment management systems and integrations across various platforms and channels
  • Intermediate knowledge of Slate and PeopleSoft student systems
  • Experience formulating and implementing organizational policy
  • Experience working effectively with diverse stakeholder groups
  • Familiarity with global affairs issues and/or international constituents
