Duties include:
- Oversee faculty-led and independent study abroad opportunities.
- Work with the Executive Director of Academic and Student Success to create/maintain international partnerships.
- Address early alerts for international students at the Edinboro and Clarion campuses.
- Conduct freshman transition meetings for first-year international students at the Edinboro and Clarion campuses.
- Cultivate and develop international contacts to enhance international opportunities and programing.
- Supervise the Coordinator of International Student Services on the California campus.
- Design and deliver the international student orientation program.
- Correspond with newly accepted students and oversee the student arrival process to ensure pre-departure and arrival needs are met for the Edinboro and Clarion campuses.
- Understand, assist, and advise international students and scholars with immigration-related advice as it pertains to non-immigrant student/scholar classification.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for international students and scholars on the Edinboro and Clarion campuses with questions/concerns related to academic and personal concerns and non-immigrant status compliance, and refer students/scholars to appropriate campus resources as needed.
- Act as issuing authority of I-20s and DS-2019s for newly admitted students/scholars and ensure compliance by evaluating necessary documentation.
- Day-to-day operational oversight, management, and supervision of the Edinboro and Clarion Graduate Assistant and student staff.
- Assist new international students/scholars with their arrival and acclimation to Edinboro and Clarion campuses; Welcome new international students at the Edinboro campus by picking them up at nearby public transport hubs such as the Erie International Airport and transporting them to campus.
- Manage the financial and human resources assigned to Global Education.
- Serve as the lead Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) for PennWest.
- Ensure institutional compliance with USCIS, DHS, and SEVP rules and regulations as it relates to F-1 students
- Serve as Responsible Officer (RO) for PennWest and ensure Institutional compliance with USCIS, DHS, DOS rules and regulations as it relates to J-1 students/scholars.
- Serve as the liaison with USCIS, DOS, DHS, and SEVP.
- Oversee Export Control Compliance, under the guidance of the PASSHE Law Office, as it relates to international travel and visitors.
- Promote and market the initiatives of the Office of Global Education in partnership with the Communications and Marking Office.
- Attend and participate in professional development activities and meetings of the International Educators Network (IEN) – PASSHE.
- Monitor and respond to inquiries via mail, phone, or email.
- Maintain skills, knowledge and best practices of regulatory immigration compliance in order to remain current in the law and regulation impacting international students, scholars, and the university.
