Job Description:
GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTION
All Hinds Community College employees must commit to the Caring Campus approach to student engagement and daily apply these general behavioral objectives: listen to student questions and concerns with a positive attitude and make meaningful connections with students.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Associate's Degree
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES , include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
Maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices.
Promote high standards of customer service and model the use of the Caring Campus approach to working with both internal and external constituents of the college.
Commit to learning and effectively using Workday Student, E-trieve, Colleague and all other software systems utilized by the college in the Office of Admissions.
Show dedication to attracting, admitting, enrolling and retaining traditional, not-traditional, international, transient, transfer, and dual credit/dual enrollment students.
Answer phones, assist students with the completion of applications, answer questions, receive documents, process transcripts, and provide services to students and constituents daily.
Communicate and interact effectively and appropriately with management team, college constituents, prospective students, and their parents; explain admissions policies and procedures in person, in writing, and over the phone while exhibiting patience and understanding.
Process applications and all applicant materials accurately and in a timely manner; follow-up as appropriate with students who may need to provide additional information.
Perform other duties as may be assigned by the appropriate authority.
Maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hand to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, taste and smell. The employee is frequently required to sit.
The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those
an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, and the employee is occasionally required to perform job responsibilities in the outdoors and off site.
