The Western Kentucky University Office of Admissions is accepting applications for an Admissions Counselor. The Admissions Office seeks to grow WKU's student population through the recruitment and admission of a diverse, academically distinguished, and engaged student body. This full-time position reports to the Assistant Director for Recruitment and operates as a recruiter, ambassador, event planner, and liaison between the university and school counselors, teachers, prospective students, parents, and other constituents within an assigned recruitment territory. Admissions Counselors represent WKU at multiple events including high school sessions, college fairs, on-campus recruitment events, and orientation programs. The candidate selected will be expected to live in or be willing to relocate to the Bowling Green area.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Supports the WKU Office of Admissions in its effort to recruit, admit, enroll, and orient students to WKU
- Builds and fosters strong relationships with secondary school administrators to maintain open communication channels between WKU and prospective students
- Presents information sessions in a variety of settings and time allotments with targeted information for varied audiences
- Connects with prospective students through social media, phone, and email to answer questions, provide information, and connect them with campus services and resources in a timely manner
- Discusses confidential academic information with students related to acceptance or denial to WKU
- Collects and inputs data into a campus-wide student information systems
- Stays current on campus events, highlights, and points of pride as well as regional and national trends in student recruitment
- Provides information about each step of the search and matriculation process including, but not limited to, inquiry, visits, application, admission, scholarships, financial-aid, housing, academic orientation and social orientation
- Anticipates student needs and evaluates interests to provide the most appropriate information
- Manages a complex schedule with frequent evening and weekend work, and extensive travel required

Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Valid driver's license
- Public speaking experience and excellent presentation skills
- Willingness to frequently travel, work evenings and weekends
Additional Information:
Salary: $36,830
