Description:
The Director for Student Affairs Assessment and Professional Staff Development reports to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.
The Director serves as the primary resource within the Division of Student Affairs in the area of research and assessment.
They direct, manage, promote, and coordinate research and assessment activities related to students' cognitive, emotional, social, and academic success, as well as the effectiveness of programs, practices, and interventions.
Areas of assessment/research include, but are not limited to: learning outcomes, student success and retention, unit program evaluation and certification, satisfaction and benchmarking, institutional/cultural climate surveys, participation in national assessments/surveys, research being conducted by individuals and work groups within the Division, and project specific assessment related to strategic objectives.
The work of the Director requires a high level of collaboration within and beyond the Division of Student Affairs.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
Student Affairs has many programs and services offered to students. These include the Campus Recreation Center, Intramural Sports, Counseling Services, Dean of Students / Judicial Affairs, Greek Life, Student Health Services, Housing & Residence Life, Intercultural Affairs, Student Center, Leadership and Student Engagement, University Events Center, Veterans & Military Affairs and TRIO Programs (Student Support Services, Educational Talent Search, Ronald McNair and Upward Bound), Student Activities, Blue & Gold Marching Band.

Requirements:
- Master's degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, or related field.
- Demonstrated ability to teach assessment and research design to others, including excellent presentation skills.
- 3 years professional experience in higher education with experience in or collaboration with Student Affairs.
- Ability to understand long-term goals and broader planning frameworks and to frame results of research and analysis in clear, cogent, concise and compelling manner.
- Effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and highly developed organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with persons from diverse backgrounds while supporting a welcoming and inclusive environment.
- Proficiency using standard business computing applications.
- Final candidate must successfully complete a criminal background check.
Preferred:
Doctoral degree in Higher Education or a related field with 4-6 years of relative work experience with an emphasis in assessment/research methodology.
