DIRECT REPORTS: Global Learning Coordinator; Global Learning Operations Assistant
SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and facilitate purposeful faculty-led global learning experiences domestically and abroad.
- Connect Country Day with global organizations and resources in the Charlotte community.
- Support international students in their academic and personal growth.
- Identify resources and strategies that promote a JK-12 interdisciplinary global curriculum and learning environment.
- Prioritize safety, risk management, and proper budgetary oversight for all global programs.
- Ensure Country Day remains at the forefront in global education.
Facilitating Purposeful Faculty-led Global Learning Experiences:
- Research, visit, assess, and select sister schools. Visit sister schools periodically to maintain a strong relationship and/or to troubleshoot problems.
- Communicate regularly with the exchange coordinators at the sister schools to plan upcoming exchanges.
- Promote sister school exchange opportunities through the hosting of information nights, speaking to classes, and writing promotional materials for Country Day publications.
- Recruit, orient, and work with Country Day host families.
- Supervise the development of itineraries for inbound and outbound groups.
- Meet with Country Day students and teachers who propose global learning experiences abroad.
- Work in partnership with division leaders, faculty, and students to determine which learning experiences and exchanges will best complement the curriculum.
- Select travel agents and tour providers.
- Recruit and select well-qualified and dependable faculty leaders for global experiences.
- Promote global learning experiences abroad to students and families.
- Conduct post trip and post visit evaluations with students, host families, and sister schools.
Global Organizations and Resources in the Community:
- Involve students and faculty in international events in our city, such as the Latin American Festival, World Quest, Euro Challenge, and World Affairs Council speaker series. Assist students in clubs with global themes, such as Model UN, and connect these groups with Charlotte's global community.
- Provide representation on city-wide organizations, such as the World Affairs Council, the Charlotte International Cabinet, International House, Charlotte Sister Cities, and Rotary International.
- Promote assemblies and classroom visits related to global themes and arrange for global speakers and representatives that align with Country Day learning goals.
Supporting International Students:
- Advocates for and supports the well-being of international students, visiting and matriculating.
- Works with admissions to identify and enroll visiting international students.
- Supports long-term host families of international students.
- Nurtures connections between the international student and the school community.
JK-12 Global Curriculum:
- Serve as a resource for faculty to further integrate global themes into their classroom environment and curriculum.
- Collect data related to global diversity in the Country Day community and communicate ways in which global themes are integrated into curriculum at all grade levels and subject areas.
- Identify potential areas for global curriculum growth in the classroom while working in partnership with faculty, curriculum leaders, and division heads.
- Regularly assess all global programs for safety and risk prevention.
- Develop and facilitate risk management training for faculty leaders for global experiences.
- Research and offer feedback regarding travel insurance and risk management information providers.
- Maintain the record of illnesses, injuries, and other negative outcomes with the goal of learning from these experiences and ensuring optimal risk prevention.
- Maintain a responsible budget and ensure that all expenditures are paid and documented.
- Provide financial support to students with documented need who wish to participate in global programs.
Remain at the Forefront of Global Education:
- Serve as an advocate and spokesperson for the importance of global education and the nurturing of intercultural competencies.
- Collaborate with global education colleagues at peer schools and with organizations including the Global Education Benchmark Group, NCAIS, and NAIS.
- Work in partnership with the International Studies Board (Upper School students), Global Action Team (Middle School students), International Parents Association, and the Administrative Council.
- Serve as a resource to parents, students, and alumni on questions related to the broadening of global perspectives. Examples: Summer options for international study or work abroad, international service-learning programs, hosting a foreign student, international internships, etc.

- Other tasks as assigned by the Head of School.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND IDEAL SKILLS:
- A master's degree in an applicable field.
- Proven experience of program management.
- Ability to lead and collaborate with staff and volunteers.
- Experience living, studying, or working abroad.
- Knowledge of world affairs and diverse global cultures.
- Experience planning international travel programs and/or leading experiential student programs.
- Ability to handle multiple projects at one time while always prioritizing safety.
- History of successful interactions with a range of constituencies including students, parents, faculty, staff, and partner organizations both in the community and abroad.
- Ability to manage multiple budgets effectively.
- Safety and risk management training, certification, and experience.
