About This Role:

Advise international students on pertinent immigration regulations; provide programming for those students. This position assists international students. Scholars and their dependents with immigration regulations that must be followed to maintain legal residency in the United States. Helps students update and maintain student and scholar records in the federal government's database. Processes needed documents for international students and scholars. Advise International Coordinating Council, student group.

Duties for this position include:

International student advising: Advise international students, scholars, and their dependents on pertinent immigration regulations by serving as a Designated School Official for F-1 students and an Alternate Responsible Officer for J-1 students and scholars. Advising on co-curricular matters is also expected. Both will be accomplished through walk-in advising, scheduled appointments, phone and email correspondence, and presentations. This also includes assisting in preparing written information disseminated through handouts/flyers and the listserv. Collaboration with a team of advisors is expected.

Serve as Advisor to Departmental Student Organization International Coordinating Council: Advise ICC by attending meetings, events and providing guidance to help them set and meet goals. Understand and work with accountants regarding funding, expenses, etc.

Other duties as assigned/campus collaborations- including presenting "See more than Manhattan" workshop and organize the Basic Language Training Program.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Requires a bachelor's degree
  • One year of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree
  • Experience living or working abroad, in higher education, with populations whose first language is not English, or interacting and working with different cultures and languages
  • Working with F-1/J-1 students.
  • Second language ability.

Other Requirements:
  • Must be U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident per federal regulations

Anticipated Hiring Pay Range:

$41,388-$52,764 Annually
