Job purpose:

The person assigned the duties of ESS Registered Behavior Technician - Paraprofessional will be responsible for working with students with significant behaviors. The ESS Registered Behavior Technician - Paraprofessional will support the District Behavior Specialist in establishing a positive learning environment and promoting maximum student independence in all assigned tasks. Strong technical and computer skills are preferred, in addition to effective communication skills, and an appreciation for collaborative communication and learning.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and record/collect behavior data at the direction of the District Behavior Specialist, according to DPS local procedures.
  • Assist with analysis of data.
  • Implement behavior analytic strategies (ABA) as outlined in Behavior Intervention Plans.
  • Assist with training staff on the implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans.
  • Provide one on one or small group instructional support for students requiring social, emotional, communication, and academic help.
  • Perform duties while adhering to ethical requirements as outlined by GaDOE and the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
  • Supports the implementation of specially designed curriculum.
  • Collaborates with teachers, administrators, support staff, and parents to support student progress.
  • Supports student performance in the classrooms and in school-wide activities, as assigned.
  • Implements individualized communication systems for students who require them.
  • Implements medical plans and toileting protocols when necessary.
  • Pursues professional learning opportunities to build professional expertise.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding students with disabilities.
  • Strong technical and computer skills are preferred.

  • Qualifications:

    Registered Behavior Technician Certification; Associates degree or higher; or at least sixty (60) semester credit hours from an accredited institution of higher education; official transcript required to validate education; ability to effectively attend to the needs of school aged students/small groups in the classroom under the direction of a classroom teacher and school administration.

    Calendar:

    This position works a 186-work calendar. 8 hours daily.

    Specific Qualifications:

    Successful candidates must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and other school-based software.
