The Division of Extended Learning coordinates the offering of a variety of courses and subjects, credit bearing and non-credit bearing, for both nontraditional and traditional students. Courses are scheduled for delivery on campus, off campus, and online. The Extended Learning Division is the home to the SUNY Oswego in the High Schools, Aspire Higher and Oswego County New Visions programs where eligible high school students are able to concurrently enroll in SUNY Oswego courses for college credit. Extended Learning also coordinates the offering of weekend courses and "short" courses (ranging from a week's duration to several weeks) and a six-week "Intensive English" program each summer for students from around the world. The Division offers high-quality, innovative learning opportunities to a diverse student population and is committed to helping students of all types achieve their educational goals. Its mission is to provide students the opportunity to benefit from the educational resources available at SUNY Oswego. Professional development programs are available by contract, on site, customized for a particular industry, or as open enrollment learning opportunities. In addition to the lakeside campus programs, the Division provides administrative oversight for the college's newest initiative, SUNY Oswego's Metro Center Branch Campus, in downtown Syracuse. The Division also provides services to veterans online and face to face with its operation in the Fort Drum/Watertown area.

Description of Responsibilities:

The International Language Education Center (ILEC) Program Manager is responsible for the administration of year-round and summer intensive English language programs. The position works closely with the Assistant Dean, Dean, and other campus leaders to advocate for and advance the annual goals of the Division and SUNY Oswego strategic plan. Program administration includes oversight of curriculum, support services, staffing, and budgeting of ILEC Programs. The position is located on the SUNY Oswego Campus, Sheldon Hall. Work hours are Monday-Friday, regular campus business hours with some evenings and weekends. Telecommuting is available and will be guided by position requirements and SUNY policy.

The ILEC Program Manager will hire instructors and conduct instructor workshops, hire program assistant(s) and tutors, respond to inquiries, and maintain student data, serve as a liaison across campus for program logistics such as space reservations, housing, and course delivery. The program manager will prepare orientation materials and conduct orientation sessions, collaborate with International Student and Scholar Services on issuing documentation for international students to ensure a smooth matriculation process. The program manager will be responsible for planning program outings and events (transportation, hotels, meals, attractions), payment for services, ordering and administering TOEFL itp, and reviewing test scores for matriculated and non-matriculated students.

The program manager may teach GST 270 US Culture for International Students in addition to teaching in both summer and year-round IEP as needed. The program manager will provide cultural and academic support for all ESL and ESOL students (advocacy, advising, connection to campus resources, etc.). The ILEC program manager will collect and analyze data to inform programmatic improvement and need, support internal and external annual reporting and develop and adhere to fiscally responsible budgets by program. Additionally, the program manager will place matriculated international students in appropriate English for Academic Purposes (EAP) credit-bearing courses. They will evaluate the need for EAP courses and work with the English Department EAP Visiting Assistant Professor to schedule offerings.

The ILEC Program Manager will ensure academic quality and staffing by evaluating instructors, program assistants, and tutors. Perform yearly reviews of Intensive English Program (IEP) and Summer Intensive English Program (SIEP) curriculum, textbooks, and instructional materials in consultation with instructors.

• Master's degree
• 4 years professional work experience serving International students
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Excellent project management and organizational skills
• Autonomous, flexible, problem-solving attitude
• Demonstrated excellence in DEI and collaborative work
• Demonstrated ability in recruitment and partnership building
• Experience in budgeting and tuition modeling

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in related fields such as TESOL
• Experience teaching English to speakers of other languages or certification in ESL instruction
• Experience in higher education, specifically in student conduct and/or with International students
• Experience administering residential intensive English programs that include recruitment travel
• Experience working/living/studying abroad
