The Managing Director, Admissions & Enrollment will work to ensure that Relay is able to effectively scale its programs and partnerships to reach thousands of educators across the country. The Managing Director will lead cross-team collaboration and set the vision for central systems and processes to effectively meet or exceed annual revenue and enrollment targets year over year. This will require setting the vision and direction for a data-driven approach to enrollment management that builds on the strengths of Relay’s efforts to date and further centralizes its approach to be more replicable and efficient, particularly as the institution expands its program offerings to reach new audiences and maximize impact.

Reporting to the Vice President, Partnerships & Enrollment, this candidate is an exceptional people manager and excels in developing and strengthening replicable, efficient systems and processes that reduce friction for partners and applicants. The Managing Director will manage two sub-teams: Prospective Student Advising and Admissions & Enrollment. Further, they will work closely across many teams within the institution, including Partnerships, Regulatory & Accreditation, Technology, and Marketing & Communications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Admissions & Enrollment (40%)
  • Set the vision for prospective student advising and admissions alongside the Partnerships team and within the institutional vision set by the Vice President, Partnerships & Enrollment
  • Execute the strategy for the implementation of an institutional recruitment plan to successfully meet annual goals, including student enrollment and experience goals
  • Partner with the Academic Compliance and program teams to inform the long-term vision for enrollment in Relay’s programs that balances program requirements, operational considerations, and revenue targets
  • Set and manage the sub-teams to meet ambitious annual enrollment targets, in addition to other identified key metrics such as conversion rates, application completion timelines, prospective student and applicant experience, etc.
  • Leverage data to design equitable policies and practices that maximize conversion of interest to applicants to enrolled students
  • Lead the Prospective Student Advising and Admissions & Enrollment sub-teams to ensure systematic, proactive, and efficient partner and prospective student management
  • Determine the institutional strategy to optimize reenrollment to support the Partnership function’s institutional goals by working collaboratively with key internal stakeholders to determine the staffing and systems capabilities needed to work effectively at scale
  • Leverage data to conduct historical analysis and model future enrollment and revenue patterns

Systems & Processes (40%)
  • Set vision for integration of admissions and enrollment data across key institutional platforms to ensure efficiencies and that actionable data is shared with key internal and external parties, ultimately inclusive of teacher preparation and professional education programs
  • Lead creation of multi-year strategic plans to improve systems and processes using key data points, developing the capabilities to enroll students in different programs at different points during the year
  • Guide the direction of the development of the streamlined application build processes across internal teams (“Go Live”)
  • Articulate the ways in which data from key groups can be linked and managed most effectively, including interest, prospective students, applicants, and enrolled students

Cross-team and Intra-team Collaboration (20%)
  • Learn about and maintain knowledge of Relay’s programmatic offerings, including regulatory constraints, to create and drive enrollment strategy, identify operational inefficiencies, and coordinate cross-functional teamwork
  • Drive collaboration with key internal teams, including Teacher Prep, Professional Education, Technology, Marketing & Communications, Partnerships, Academic Compliance, Research, and Student Affairs and Services to streamline efforts to capture consistent, actionable data and to generate timely, relevant progress reports toward enrollment and revenue goals
  • Facilitate key cross-functional meetings to drive decision-making needed to implement enrollment strategy and produce clear, consistent communications about progress to internal stakeholders including but not limited to: Enrollment Leadership Team Meeting
  • Partner or collaborate with the Technology team, assess Relay’s current systems and capabilities to determine which platforms and processes can be merged to streamline internal operations as well as partner and student experiences

Perform other related duties as required and assigned in support of the Partnerships team’s goals

QUALIFICATIONS

First and foremost, the Managing Director of Admissions & Enrollment must share the Relay community’s commitment to working together to improve student growth and achievement through phenomenal teacher preparation grounded in diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism. This includes providing teacher preparation programs that set novice teachers up to succeed in the classroom from day one; leadership programs that train new and veteran school and district leaders to best serve their school communities; and teacher-facing professional education that provides ongoing learning to educators. Additionally, for this position we’re looking for candidates that possess a combination of the following skills:
  • At least 7 years of work experience, preferably in PK12 or higher education, including extensive experience in people management and enrollment systems
  • Strong project management skills paired with the ability to synthesize information from a variety of sources
  • Acute attention to detail and a focus on efficiency and experience building and improving systems to effectively scale work
  • Excellent communication and investment-building skills
  • Ability to navigate through complexity and ambiguity to achieve clarity
  • Exceptional people management skills
  • A demonstrated passion for Relay’s mission and vision and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion

COMPENSATION

Relay is committed to creating and maintaining a compensation and benefits system that supports our ability to recruit and retain a diverse and talented team. As we make decisions about compensation, we will be guided by the following values: clarity, consistency, and internal equity. The salary range for this role is $115,830 - $167,954. New hires will be offered a salary at the starting point of the range to allow for an equitable starting salary process and continual salary growth during an employee’s time at Relay GSE.

To ensure internal pay equity:
  • Relay does not currently differentiate starting salary offers based on years of experience,
  • All staff salaries will be capped at the salary range maximum, and
  • Relay does not negotiate salary offers.
