Job Overview:

The Admissions Associate & Educational Evaluator will provide daily support to the Admissions Team as a whole, especially as it relates to family engagement and evaluations. Collaboration and communication will be required to ensure a smooth admissions process and enrollment experience for all. This includes the internal process of reviewing and tracking candidates for admissions, as well as ensuring a positive experience for prospective families before new students are accepted/enrolled or denied.

Essential Functions:

Family Engagement & Outreach - 40% of the time

• Leads school tours for prospective parents; represents the Stephen Gaynor School accurately and describes the learning profile of a Stephen Gaynor School student; requires specific knowledge of the curriculum and teaching practices utilized
• Builds a warm and welcoming rapport with all applicants and their families.
• Participates in admissions events for prospective and onboarding families, both on and off site.
• Helps to plan and organize all admissions events
• Participates in community outreach to ensure that all families who need Gaynor are aware of Gaynor and how to access Gaynor

Evaluations - 60% of the time

• Conducts initial phone screenings and uses professional discretion to decide if prospective students are good candidates to receive an official application link
• Reads application files, including neuropsychological and psychoeducational reports; must be able to interpret reports and use professional judgment to decide if an applicant is an appropriate candidate to move forward in the admissions process
• Evaluates candidates for admission using sound informal educational assessments; must have the ability to differentiate or adjust on the spot based upon a student's performance on said assessments.
• Uses task analysis when evaluating students in order to interpret why the child is struggling or what he/she needs in order to be more successful
• Writes organized and detailed reports on students who have been evaluated; must be able to analyze a child's performance through a professional educator's and anti-bias lens to determine whether they could be well supported at Gaynor
• Conducts student observations, as necessary, at their home school before they are accepted (or denied)
• Takes written notes on all conversations and communicates with the Admissions team regarding each applicant's status in the process
• Works with the Associate Director of Admissions and Director of Evaluations to continually reflect on the efficacy and reliability of the evaluations.

Overall

• Attends all faculty and staff meetings and other meetings as necessary
• Stays up to date with all facets of Stephen Gaynor School including curriculum, teaching methods and policies
• Builds rapport with Gaynor faculty and staff
• Represents the mission of SGS with all colleagues and families, internally and externally.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Skills:

• Minimum of a graduate degree in Education, Special Education or Psychology
• Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in a specialized setting
• Advanced knowledge of language-based learning disabilities and experience working with students with LD (Dyslexia, Expressive/Receptive Language Disorders, Dysgraphia, Dyscalulia, ADHD)
• Strong interpersonal, writing and communication skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
