Job Details
- Advise non-immigrant students on immigration regulations and personal and academic issues related to their success.
- Create and communicate pre-arrival information and facilitate international student orientation each
semester for all incoming F-1 students. - Plan and host workshops to train and inform international students on relevant topics such as academic success, self-advocacy, problem-solving skills, faculty engagement, financial management, and taxes.
- Meet on an as needed basis with each TTUHSC campus’s Student Exchange and Visitor Program
(SEVP) representatives and the Office of International Affairs at Texas Tech University - Maintain up to date Designate School Official (DSO) and Department of Homeland Security training requirements.
- Assist in the administrative duties of the Office of Student Life, to include answering phones, responding to emails, assisting visitors, and supervising the student center (Synergistic Center).
- Actively engage in the international student support/student affairs profession in order to gain knowledge, stay current on issues in the field, and develop a strong professional network.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree plus two (2) years related experience; OR a combination of education and/or related experience to equal six (6) years.
Preferred:
- Master's degree and/or previous experience working with international affairs in a post-secondary academic setting.
- Experience and knowledge in maintaining institutional educational records and external records (SEVIS) as required by law and regulations for non-immigrant F-1 students and their dependents.
- Prior experience presenting information/facilitating workshops to groups of individuals over job related information.
