Job Responsibilities
This is a temporary grant position (TGP). The incumbent manages Student Support Services (SSS) participant caseload by providing academic advising, assessing academic needs, monitoring students' academic progress, providing financial education/literacy tools, and monitoring financial aid concerns for individual students. Assists participants with completing the financial aid FAFSA form, assesses midterm/end-of-term academic outcomes, follows up with participants, coordinates personalized academic services/strategies and contacts students in caseload each semester. Recruits, selects, and assesses needs of eligible students annually to maintain the caseload required; recruitment may include advisement (course scheduling, registration, etc.), class visits, and campus events; academic/career development and needs assessments are basis of the intake process, shaping SSS participants' educational action plan (EAP); academic skills/career exploration inventories help develop student's plan for services. Assists SSS Director in overseeing the SSS BC office operations and services: recruiting, training, supervising, and evaluating student assistants; assists Director in managing the academic mentoring program for assigned caseload; recruits, trains, supervises, monitors, and evaluates SSS mentors.
Ensures compliance, accuracy, and completeness of academic performance data (maintaining current and timely participant records); participates in SSS regulations training (record-keeping, eligibility, documentation, & performance report data); collects/updates records of students' academic progress and status used in reporting; stays informed about SSS federal/program objectives and performance requirements. Facilitates the transfer process of SSS participants wanting to transfer by maintaining MTC advisement updates for academic programming and transfer pathways; assisting students with navigating the steps involved in transferring: researches academic programs and transfer rules at students' selected colleges; guides participants in adjusting plans (the EAP) when needed to achieve their goals; encourages students to visit 4-year schools. Collaborates with AC coordinator in planning participant activities, informational workshops (academic strategies, time management, financial/ economic literacy etc.); and cultural activities for in-person and/or virtual formats to enhance engagement opportunities to support the whole student. Performs other duties as assigned by the SSS program director and the Careers & TRIO Programs (CTP) Director.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
Bachelor's degree and experience in student services programs or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's in education, social sciences, humanities, or field related to academic development/student services; or Master's in education, social sciences, humanities, or field related to skills instruction; 2 years experience providing advising, particularly to first-generation/income challenged students; experience w/ 2-yr academic programs, college policies, transfer, and financial aid processes.
