The Associate for Admissions must possess a positive and infectious attitude and an appreciation for helping students and families. The Associate for Admissions must understand the philosophy, and benefit of a community college education and assist students and their families in finding an acceptable fit between educational and career goals and enrollment constraints. The position requires travel (no overnights) and the ability to set goals, manage time, and achieve results within an assigned area. The Associate for Admissions who receives minimal supervision must value working independently with students, families, high school personnel, and colleagues from other colleges. The ideal candidate will have an appreciation for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and will demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.

Throughout the year, the Associate for Admissions will meet prospective students at high schools, college fairs, all the like, and will participate in on-and-off campus programs; conduct interviews; evaluate files and make admission decisions; initiate and extensive communication, via phone, text, and email for applicant follow-up. Each of these activities requires different skills. The Associate for Admissions must quickly build a professional base of higher education and admissions knowledge and network.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree with one to three years of experience working in higher education, preferably in an Admissions Office.
Strong customer service skills.
Superior writing and verbal skills.
Excellent interpersonal communications skills.
Ability to speak in front of large groups.
Familiarity with software packages related to admissions.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with three or more years of experience working in higher education, preferably in an Admissions Office.
Three or more years of experience working with Banner or similar operating system.
Digital marketing experience.
Bi-lingual a plus.

Physical Abilities

The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, with or without accommodations:

Sitting for long periods of time
Some bending and stooping when working with files.
Limited lifting involved but not more than 50 pounds at a time.
Finger dexterity for typing and using other office equipment.

Salary and Benefit Information

Starting salary $20.00 per hour and will be commensurate with education and experience.
