Coordinator of International Student and Scholar Services
Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for the following position: Coordinator of International Student and Scholar Services (Classified Staff, CB70-Student Services Program Coordinator II, with benefits) in the Center for Global Engagement. Serving as a part of a dynamic team supporting campus internationalization initiatives, this colleague will serve as the primary support advisor for the international student population at Coastal Carolina University, serving as a Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Official (ARO), reporting to the Senior Director of International Recruitment, Admissions, and Student and Scholar Services within a unit that supports international students from recruitment through graduation. This position also provides essential support for programming supportive of both the regulatory expectations for international student engagement as well as best practices of inclusive engagement of our international students and scholars from around the world in our broader community as a part of enhancing global awareness on our campus and community.
Duties include but are not limited to:
· Provide support to international students and scholars on a variety of personal, social, visa-related, vocational, and academic matters that enable each student’s ongoing compliance with federal regulations and encourage student success. Coordinate with various campus stakeholders in support of international students and scholars.
· Complete training and serve as Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) with the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP), providing all relevant advising and processing appropriate functions in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) directly or through the CRM, Terra Dotta. Process student and scholar requests appropriately and promptly through Terra Dotta and other established systems for approval and processing. Maintain complete and accurate student records in appropriate campus systems.
· Develop, coordinate, and implement International Student Orientation events and activities and an overall strategic programming plan that is supportive of acculturation for international students and scholars, engagement with campus and outside community, and regulatory compliance. Serve as advisor to the Intercultural Experience Community in collaboration with University Housing and to departmental student organizations including the International Club.
· Manage the exchange student cooperation programs and other special programs. Interface with respective host institutions, coordinate with International Admissions and other campus stakeholders as appropriate, and serve as Academic Advisor to exchange students assisting with course selection and registration.
· Provide instructional support and programming in Global Achievement Pathway “GAP” and CHEPD program cooperation. Assist with developing, organizing, and promoting other speaking, listening, and cultural opportunities for GAP students.
· Participate, as assigned by the Senior Director for International Recruitment, Admissions, and Student and Scholar Services, in campus and other activities in support of task areas. Advocate for adjustments to policies and processes related to effective service of our international students and scholars.
· Provide exceptional customer service to all constituents, including but not limited to, faculty, staff, students, visitors and the community at large.
Requirements: A bachelor’s degree and experience in student services programs is required. Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident. Driver's license and a current, valid passport without restriction to travel are required. Must remain eligible at all times, per immigration guidelines, to serve as SEVIS Designated School Officer (DSO)/Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO), and submit to and pass ongoing background checks as a requirement of this position. Demonstrated experience delivering excellent customer service, the ability to organize multiple tasks and meet deadlines while working independently and as a team, demonstrated effectiveness with project management, demonstrated creativity in programming and problem-solving, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with students and campus stakeholders.
Preferred qualifications: A master’s degree in an area related to or in support of services to be provided to an international student population and at least 1 year of full-time relevant experience programming in a university setting or at an international school is preferred. Experience as a DSO (Designated School Official) and/or ARO (Alternate Responsible Officer) and ability to communicate in a language other than English is preferred. Experience with software systems in support of student services and social media platforms and study, work or travel outside the United States are also preferred.

Student Services Program Coordinator II (CB70/61121765/FTE-S00955P), full-time position with benefits. SC State Pay Band: 05. Salary range: $37,860.00 (minimum) - $53,957.00 (midpoint). Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience. Normal work hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university. The Position requires some evenings and weekends and some overnight travel away from the university in support of the position. Must be flexible to meet special scheduling needs of the University.
