Eckerd College is currently hiring for the position of Director of Global Education to join our Global Education team at our waterfront property along the Boca Ciega Bay in St. Petersburg, Florida, in our relationship-focused community. The director oversees all aspects of the Office of Global Education, providing support for existing international study programming, including short-term, semester-long, and year-long study abroad programs for Eckerd College students.
As the Director of Global Education, you will provide strategic vision for the development of new programs to enhance and expand the college’s international study offerings. In doing so, you will collaborate with and support faculty leading study abroad courses and programs as well as students preparing for, participating in, and returning from study abroad. The director supports the development of global competency for all Eckerd College students and promotes best practices in global study program design, assessment, risk management, and integration with academic programs of study.
The director brings international experience and cross-cultural awareness based on living and/or working abroad and demonstrated skills in administration of international education/study abroad programs and student support. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with faculty, students, staff, parents, and college administrators are essential to success in this position. The director has the ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion, lead data-informed program assessment, and manage and work within constraints of a budget.

Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all aspects of global education, including student recruitment, program development and assessment, and risk management
Oversee the operations and staff of the College’s Centers, including the London Study Centre and Seville Study Center
Provide collaborative support to faculty in the design, development, and delivery of faculty-led study abroad programs
Research and develop additional study abroad opportunities, both Eckerd faculty led and/or through collaborative relationships with third parties whose programs are consistent with Eckerd’s mission
Work with the Office of Advancement to secure external financial support for Global Education efforts at Eckerd College
Provide leadership in assessing and managing safety, health, and financial risk associated with global education programs, serving as a representative on the College’s Safety and Risk Management Committee and liaising offices of Student Life, Title IX, and Risk Management
Monitor events abroad that may affect student and faculty travelers and manage communications in the event of a crisis or emergency situation
Manage budget matters related to global education
Collaborate with the Director of Financial Aid in awarding scholarships for global study programs
Collaborate with the faculty Global Education committee to develop policies and procedures to support global study programs
Direct ongoing assessment of Global Education programs
Qualifications
Master’s degree from an accredited institution in a related area (terminal degree in an appropriate field preferred); five (5) years of successful experience in study abroad/global education at the college level.
Experience in supervising the work of others
