What You'll Do:
The Vice President of Financial Aid manages the College’s Administrative Financial Aid Department and ensures the department meets its goal of assisting Arizona College students in all aspects of the student financial aid process and ensuring the school receives financial aid funds in a timely fashion. This role is also responsible for the strategic vision and strategies of the Financial Aid function.
- Oversees all outputs for teams that counsel students to determine their eligibility for Title IV funding, institutional loans, agency assistance, Federal Work-study, and scholarships drawing on skills and experience.
- Establishes procedures and guidelines regarding the effective and efficient distribution of financial aid among eligible applicants and enrolled students, with a central focus on meeting the institution’s processing and budget goals.
- Works closely with all Enrollment Management Offices (Admissions, Student Affairs, etc.) to provide accurate financial aid information and customer service to students and internal customers
- Development of financial aid policies and approvals of all financial aid procedures
- Oversees all areas and functions of financial aid awarding, disbursement, reconciliation, compliance, and reporting.
- Responsible for the administration, compliance, and reconciliation of federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs.
- Develop and maintain systems to manage and improve financial aid processing
- Oversees all aspects of the administration of Veteran Administration (VA) benefits beyond Vocational Rehab. This includes the application process, proper student counseling and certifications along with maintaining compliance.
- Extensively analyzes data to determine program effectiveness, inform strategic planning and tactical updates to annual planning, and create, distribute, and present reports to academic departments, senior staff, and the board of trustees
- Responsible for all aspects of CARES processing and reporting.
- Monitor the awarding of financial aid to students and ensure awarding to all students is accurate and that corrections directed by the quality assurance team are resolved promptly. Ensure overall compliance.
- Maintain the privacy of student data.
- Hire and supervise Financial Aid Directors.
- Manage direct reports including conducting 1:1s, Semesterly Check-Ins, Performance Management, and offering Training and Development
- Other duties as assigned.
What We Need From You:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Bachelors’ Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience is preferred
- Ten years of progressive experience in Title IV aid administration preferably in management or equivalent combination of skills and experience.
- Executive presence and the ability to effectively communicate across varying audience
- Passion for building outstanding teams and creating an environment where individuals can do their best work.
- High degree of professionalism and discretion in dealing with confidential information
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to lead within a matrix structure.
