Description
This position will promote global education by assisting students who visit the Global Education/Study Abroad office by providing resources and advising related to available programs. The Student Assistant will play a key role in increasing the visibility and impact of the Global Education office on campus by speaking to students and completing projects with the support of Global Education staff members.
Must be available to work up to 10 hours per week.
Monday - Friday with some occasional evenings or weekends required.
Examples of Duties
Educate students in individual and group settings about resources and collaborate with them to explore opportunities, including exchange and study abroad programs.
Facilitate and co-facilitate information sessions and tabling events
Present information about Global Education/Study Abroad, upon request, to student organizations, residence halls, classrooms, and other groups
Provide coverage in the Global Education office
Assist with greeting visitors
Answer and direct phone calls
Complete office administrative tasks as needed
Ability to communicate and provide high levels of service to students and other stakeholders using a friendly and courteous attitude
Capacity for tact and confidentiality
Detail-oriented and conscientious when completing tasks
Interested in learning information related to global education/study abroad and advising students one-on-one and in small groups
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Successful completion of one semester at New College by employment start date (1 successful contract required)
Preferred Qualifications
Genuine interest in helping fellow students achieve their academic and professional goals
Committed to showing up for assigned shifts; reliable and dependable
Willing to take initiative and be a good team player
