Xavier University of Louisiana is accepting applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Dean. The Assistant/Associate Dean for Student Affairs leads, coordinates, and oversees the implementation of student services within the College. Responsibilities of this position include providing oversight and innovative, collaborative, and strategic leadership for the planning, development, implementation, and monitoring of all aspects of recruitment, admissions, interviewing, orientation, student government, student organizations, student events, and special programs. The Assistant/Associate Dean for Student Affairs establishes and maintains relationships with students, student organizations, faculty, staff, administrators, and other stakeholders, working to enhance the quality of life for College of Pharmacy students.

The Assistant/Associate Dean for Student Affairs is a key member of the College's Executive Committee, reports to the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, complies with institutional guidelines/policies, and strategically works with the Dean and College administration to achieve College goals and objectives. Minimum Qualifications

* Advanced degree
* Minimum of five years of experience in higher education
* Significant experience working with students

Preferred Qualifications

* Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D. or BS)
* Strong administrative desire with exceptional communication and leadership skills
* Strong organizational and planning skills to handle multiple, time-sensitive responsibilities, set priorities and meet deadlines

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Description

General Operations:

* Work closely with the Dean to ensure College and student success.
* Understand current and emerging trends related to student success and best practices in student affairs.
* Oversee student affairs personnel to ensure duties are performed to a high standard.
* Collaborate within the Executive Committee to implement and evaluate the strategic plan.
* Shape the strategic planning and budgeting processes in areas related to student affairs programs.
* Collaborate with the dean, associate dean, department chairs, and program directors to assess needs and develop proposals for new programs and make necessary adjustments to current student programs.
* Develop, implement, and maintain programming for current pharmacy students aiming to elevate achievement and overall success.
* Develop and maintain effective communication for appropriate student matters both within and outside the College, ensuring timely and accurate dissemination of information. This includes:
* Contributing to the development and production of official publications (Catalog, Handbook, website, etc.) and unofficial publications (brochures, promotional materials, etc.)
* Supporting daily operations of the College of Pharmacy, representing the Dean in the Dean's absence, and performing other duties as assigned by the Dean.
* Supervising the student absence procedures and communications with faculty

Recruitment, admissions and enrollment:

* Establish and maintain strong relationships with the pre-pharmacy advisors of colleges/universities; work with other internal and external constituents to meet College objectives.
* Oversee strategies that will enable the College to recruit quality students in a new era of competition from other colleges of pharmacy.
* Maintain a recruitment plan for the College to sustain diversity among its student body.
* Oversee the admissions process, including PharmCAS, interviews, and notification of acceptance status.
* Oversee the "future students" and "current students" sites on the College webpage to ensure information is complete, correct and current.
* Prepare and distribute student instructions for registration for classes in the Banner system.
* Serve as the College liaison to the registrar's office financial aid office, and other student service areas on campus.
* Provide necessary background materials and information for the Honors, Awards & Scholarship committee, communicate scholarship recipients to the financial aid office, and order student awards.
* Assist students in identifying external scholarship/financial aid opportunities.
