Duties and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
• Collaborate with the teams of the Office of International Services to support global graduate students through programming for international orientations, cultural activities, e.g., welcome receptions, holiday events, and graduation celebrations, that support international students.
• Work with the Director of International Services international advisors in collaborating with campus stakeholders to enhance services and create procedures and establish best practices to enrich the experience for global graduate students and all other international students.
• Collaborates with other campus partners to develop and execute the Office of International Services’ programming that supports the overall success of international students, including the International Student Orientation, cultural excursions, and coordinate with campus partners on intercultural, student safety, wellness, and social activity programming.
• Support the University and Enrollment Management’s strategic initiatives to create a welcoming campus for international students by incorporating global perspectives and frameworks into the Saint Louis University learning environment.
• Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) to be able to issue federal documents for international students to obtain F visas in order to study at Saint Louis University.
• Serve as liaison to campus academic and administrative offices in regard to the intersection of immigration regulation and academic success.
• Assist with advising cultural student organizations.
• Provide support for international student success and retention at all levels, especially focusing on the large international graduate population.
• Support all university efforts in managing International Student Services social media and web presence.
• This individual plays an important role for international students in transitioning to and through their journey from admissions to graduation.
• Performs all other duties and projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree required with a minimum of one (1) year of experience working with international students.
• Experience in global education or international student services
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software programs
• Ability to learn new technology and is self-motivated to stay current with emerging technologies.
• Sufficient knowledge and experience using social media
• Experience with data utilization and learning assessment as a tool to measure the effectiveness of the department's programs.
• Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident to become a DSO as per the Department of Homeland Security requirements.
• Student-centered and demonstrate a commitment to student success.
Remote/In-person Expectations
This position will require the individual to work in the office, with the flexibility to work up to one day per week remotely upon completion of the first 6 months of initial onsite training and familiarizing with department work and operations in compliance with the requirements of the SLU Remote Staff Flexible Work Policy.
