JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for providing workshops on early childhood education at SVSU partner schools in the People's Republic of China

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES INCLUDE:
  • Travel to the People's Republic of China to live and teach workshops on early childhood education for periods of 4 to 8 weeks in Spring semester (March, April, May, and/or June) or in Fall semester (end of August, September, October, November, and/or December).
  • Teach SVSU curriculum in classrooms of approximately 50 students for 12 to 24 hours per week.
  • Participate in training on how to teach SVSU approved curriculum on early childhood education.
  • Provide appropriate grading and assessment to classes.
  • Provide administrative support, as required, for the Office of International office.
  • Provide training support for other Fellows teaching classes or preparing to teach classes at Changchun Normal University.
  • Serve as an ambassador from SVSU to students, faculty, and staff at Changchun Normal University.
  • Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: This position will report to the Dean of College of Education

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: This position will not supervise any other positions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
  • Must be able to independently live and work in China for periods ranging from 4 to 8 weeks during scheduled workshops
  • Must be able to write and speak English fluently
  • Must be able to work very well with people of diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Travel and/or lived aboard experience
  • Experience teaching early childhood education or working in an early childhood education setting
