POSITION GOALS
  • The ESL/ International Advisor is responsible for providing information, support, and academic advisement to prospective and current ESL, Dreamer, and International students at Camden County College, enabling them to achieve their vocational and educational goals.
  • The ESL/International Advisor will demonstrate and promote a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Advise prospective and current F-1 visa International, ESL, and DACA students on all matters that may impact a student's enrollment and VISA eligibility status.
  • Serves as a Designated School Official (DSO), assists Director with maintaining the Student Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) and all related certification requirements.
  • Prepares, develops, monitors, updates, and tracks SEVIS files and SEVIS alert list on a regular basis.
  • Assists the Director in maintaining Colleague records and appropriate coding for F-1 visa students
  • Attends various college events (orientation, open houses, college wide registrations representing the International Student Services Office (ISSO), and ESL Program to help, support and serve ESL students and DACA/Dreamer students.
  • Assists with general student advisement as needed and provides evening academic advisement support when applicable.
  • Provides services at all three college locations, both in person and virtually.
  • Follows all college policies, procedures and processes.
  • Ability to work directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Complies with all safety, fire, and smoking regulations.
  • Completes all mandatory compliance and safety training as scheduled by Human Resources.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • U.S. Citizen or permanent resident required.
  • Experience in academic advisement and community colleges preferred.
  • Familiar with SEVP, DHS, USCIS, ESL, DACA and Immigration rules and regulations preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including but not limited to friendliness, courteousness, thoroughness and flexibility.
  • Ability to work as a part of a cross-functional team in an innovative environment and independent as needed.
  • Excellent computer skills, including but not limited to: Microsoft Office Suite and Ellucian Colleague.
  • Valid Driver's License, insurance and personal vehicle required.

Standard working hours are as follows:

Academic Year: Monday and Thursday: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Blackwood Campus; Tuesday: 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Wednesday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the Camden Campus and Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the Blackwood Campus.

Summer: Monday and Thursday: 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Blackwood Campus; Tuesday: 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on the Camden Campus; Wednesday: 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the Camden campus; Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the Blackwood Campus.
