Job Description
Come join our team of more than 70 full-time, part-time, and student staff representing five continents and 16 native languages! The Center for International Education (CIE) within NAU seeks to inspire ambassadors of positive change and collaborative and innovative responses to a changing world.
This International Admissions Coordinator, Senior position within the International Admissions and Evaluations (IAE) team of CIE will support student access, success, excellence in education, diversity, and integrity by working directly with student applicants, faculty, and staff to facilitate a smooth and efficient application process. The position consists of student applicant processing, transcript evaluation, admission package evaluation, and document processing responsibilities. Identifying and enacting process improvements in all three areas will increase student applicant satisfaction and support NAU's ability to continually admit a diverse and academically qualified student population. The coordinator will serve as a guide through the different requirements and options students have depending on their specific situation and uphold the standards that make NAU an attractive option for international students.

Admissions - 50%
• Support international undergraduate and graduate admissions which includes data entry of applications, processing of online applications, transcript evaluation, processing of official transcripts, other academic credentials, and financial support.
• Support with application communication, collection and review of application materials, international admission decision processing according to established criteria, and pertinent immigration support documents.
• Evaluate international transcripts and convert GPAs based on established criteria and an understanding of various international educational systems as well as how a student's transcript equates to the U.S. educational system.
• Develop and document procedures that guarantee compliance with US immigration regulations, including maintaining relevant records, reports, and statistics.
• Review and approve applicant documentation for I-20 issuance, cancellations, and deferrals for graduate and undergraduate admissions.
• Assist with application analysis and assessment to ensure accurate and efficient processing of undergraduate applications.
• Support admissions process for various types of admission, including degree-seeking, exchange programs, sponsored students, online, personalized learning, and customized programs. Review and update admission forms and letters.
• Evaluate and improve, in conjunction with the team, international admissions output and workflow, and help ensure that application and prospect reviews occur efficiently and effectively. Document and update admission procedures to reflect the most current and relevant industry standards, including documenting standard operating procedures.
• Remain current on student-related immigration regulations and credential evaluation procedures and policies through participation in internal and external training, seminars, conferences, and other professional opportunities.
• Assist with evaluating and improving, in conjunction with the team, international admissions output and workflow, and help ensure that application and prospect reviews occur efficiently and effectively. Document and update admission procedures to reflect the most current and relevant industry standards, including documenting standard operating procedures.
Designated School Official (DSO) - 10%
• Serve as DSO:
• Guide international students through the process of studying in the U.S., process and review relevant documents, and maintain records in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS).
• Issue and process I-20s (Certificate of Eligibility for nonimmigrant Student Status).
Course Curriculum Management - 10%
• Transfer Credit and Pathways:
• ¿Assist with transfer credit posting and processing, including entering courses, verifying authenticity, establishing GPA equivalency, and completing liberal studies evaluations for potential partnerships.
Cross Campus Partnerships - 10%
• Support strong cross-campus partnerships and training with departments, administration, major-specific advisors, faculty and staff, and other potential or current partners across campus to facilitate understanding of international admission processing and the decision process.
• Assist as a point of contact in CIE for any questions about international students.
Scholarship Management - 10%
• Verify eligibility, track, and issue scholarships, and manage communication related to scholarships.
• Work closely with the international recruitment area to support the tracking and management of the International Excellence Award.
Other - 10%
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in a related field; and
• Minimum of three years of professional work experience, education, or training in higher education or business; and
• Worked, lived, or studeied abroad; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
• US citizenship or lawful permanent residence status (necessary to qualify as a DSO).
Preferred Qualifications
• Five years' professional experience in international education, admissions, or related field.
• Experience in transcript evaluation and transfer credits.
• Master's degree in related field.
• Experience with PeopleSoft, SalesForce, Sunapsis, or other university-related student management systems.
• Experience in international student academic and/or immigration advising.
• Served as a Designated School Official (DSO).
• Experience working in an administrative role and have strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Knowledge of the cultural contexts of international students to provide effective guidance and information to those unfamiliar with the US culture and educational systems.
• Knowledge of records administration and maintenance techniques and procedures.

• Skill in entering data accurately and efficiently with a high level of attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

• Skill in basic math to convert GPAs to a 4.0 scale.

Background Information
Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment. Salary
Anticipated salary is $52,000. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.
FLSA Status
This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.

This is a Classified Staff (CLS) position.
