HIRING SALARY RANGE: $82,500 - $99,000 per year

POSITION SALARY RANGE: $82,500 -$123,750 per year

SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:

Coordinate and supervise the development, data collection and analysis of support materials for the K-12 gifted education program and special education services. Work with the Learning Services department to facilitate the collaborative development, implementation and success of gifted and special education instructional programming and communicate information and results to all stakeholders

SUPERVISED BY: Director of Exceptional Student Services.

SUPERVISES: Support Staff, Coordinators, GT Teachers, Related Service Providers.


ESSENTIAL JOB ELEMENTS:

  • Facilitate the collaborative development, implementation and success of the Gifted Education Program Plan for the district.
  • Ensure that the processes for the GT Program Plan are upheld throughout the district.
  • Be a spokesperson for gifted students and gifted education information - (Articulate the mission, vision, goals of gifted education and the district's Gifted Education Program Design to stakeholders.)
  • Foster the assimilation of gifted education into the instructional and assessment programs offered in the district.
  • Integrate the social-emotional needs of gifted students into ongoing programming options offered in the district.
  • Collaborate with district office staff and other district staff for the reporting of gifted student enrollment, achievement and improvements in the gifted education program.
  • Develop positive partnerships with parents, educators and community members for the benefit of gifted student achievement and well-being; with higher education for building capacity of educators to know and understand giftedness and gifted students.
  • Develop a long-term plan for professional development - increasing the capacity of educators to know, understand and serve gifted students.
  • Assist in the identification of gifted students and in the placement of gifted students in appropriate educational settings and /or with receiving appropriate services.
  • Assist school personnel in the ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of gifted education services, including input from parents of students who are gifted.
  • Assist school personnel in ensuring that documents (ALPs) regarding gifted identification procedures and written criteria for gifted services placement that are required are accurate and accessible to parents and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate instructional and other support services for students with disabilities
  • Collaborate with general education staff in improving the educational services for students with disabilities
  • Collaborate with outside entities and agencies in improving the education and life outcomes of students with disabilities
  • Participate in crafting the strategic direction of services for students with disabilities.
  • Ensure district and school legal compliance with the requirements of ADA and IDEA for students with disabilities
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's Degree in Special Education, Developmental Education, Gifted Education or other similar degree.
  • Two (2) years of experience working with exceptional students.
  • Preference for experience working with both gifted and special education students.
  • Previous administrative experience.
