Job Summary:
Advises international students in a variety of visa types regarding immigration compliance .
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Advises international students in a variety of visa types regarding F-1 immigration compliance, cultural, educational and academic issues.
  • Processes immigration requests for international students using PeopleSoft, a student system, and the SEVIS system.
  • Works with various University departments to provide services for international students.
  • Assists with workshops and seminars on various issues related to International Education and participates in the New International Student Orientation program.
  • Enters dates into the PeopleSoft/SEVIS system, to meet federal guidelines.
  • Continues to expand knowledge of immigrations regulations regarding F-1students and trains on additional visa types represented at the University.
  • Possible travel to workshops 1-2 times per year.
Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social science, humanities, education with international emphasis.
  • One (1) year experience in student services, academic advising, or related field, in an international education setting or related area, and/or study or living abroad experience.
  • US citizenship or permanent residency required to access SEVIS system.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience living or working abroad.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience using the PeopleSoft System. Experience with e-forms.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently with little supervision and instructions.
  • Ability to interact with personnel with various cultural backgrounds.
