Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Student Assistant for Graphic Design will serve as a member of the Division of Student Affairs Student Assistant Promotions team. The primary duties are the creation of print and electronic campaigns that promote awareness of initiatives and services, advertises division events, and helps develop story ideas and writes copy. The student assistant (SA) will be required to meet regularly with the VPSA and division staff to ascertain needs and develop awareness campaigns. The SA will also attend various campus events as needed to assist team members with photography, videography and the creation of social media content that increase student participation and document student engagement on campus.
  • Design print and electronic advertising.
  • Write copy.
  • Meet regularly with the VPSA (Vice President for Student Affairs) and meet as needed with division staff as directed by the VPSA
  • Assist with promotion of upcoming events
  • Assist with photography, videography and social media engagement activities
  • Provide coverage in the VPSA office when needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Skills Required
  • Intermediate knowledge of Word, Power Point, Teams
  • Knowledge of Canva, MS Publisher or Photoshop required (samples required).
  • Skill in creating, editing, and designing flyers, posters, brochures, booklets and media slides

Qualifications
  • Full-time student. Any major considered, but majors in Communication Studies, Marketing, Film Production, and English are especially suitable for this position.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5; Junior, senior or graduate student.
  • Ability to interact positively and professionally with students, faculty, staff and campus visitors
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience in designing print and digital communications (posters/flyers/slides, etc.) is required. Candidate must provide samples of previous work.
  • Experience with posting to social media is desirable.
  • Creative writing and business writing skills desirable.
  • Experience in photography and/or videography desirable
  • Effective time and work flow management skills
  • Must be available to work nights and weekends.
