Job Summary:

This position will work with the Experiential Learning department. The Experiential Learning team is responsible for designing and managing a portfolio of customized, hands-on programs for international students and educators in the United States. Our portfolio includes English language training, teacher training, internship and professional development programming for different sponsors and cohorts, and the team also specializes in partnerships with universities, companies, and organizations interested in establishing these types of programs. 

IIE is partnering with MOTIE and KIAT (Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology) to provide enrichment programs for Korean exchange students in STEM fields at U.S. Higher Education Institutions. The Project Manager will build and manage these short-term enrichment trips for groups of 20-30 students in a variety of locations around the U.S. The enrichment field trips will allow students to visit U.S. companies, organizations, and research labs to gain first-hand experience in their fields of study. The Project Manager oversees approximately 14 trips per year, ensuring quality content and implementation, and will travel with the group on 6-8 of the trips. The Project Manager will also assist with a webinar series from STEM focused speakers, and oversee all project data, reporting, and tracking. The Project Manager has overall accountability for the enrichment trips success.

This position is contingent upon funding and expected to last a duration of 12 months.

Essential Functions:

Conducts research; develops and submits enrichment field trip proposals covering a wide range of STEM topics and locations. Finalizes enrichment trip agendas in consultation with Director, Experiential Learning and Sponsor.

Oversees overall enrichment project implementation in accordance with sponsor and IIE directions and guidelines.

Develops and maintains relationships with subject matter experts; secures site visit locations including STEM companies, research labs, university partners or similar. Schedules and manages site visits for participants.

Provides input on each project’s budget, ensuring all expenses are authorized and projects are accounted for accurately.

Makes payments to vendors such as hotels, bus companies, restaurants.

Conducts matching of students to suitable enrichment opportunities in alignment with student objectives and programmatic guidelines, ensuring all participants are matched to one activity. Tracks and manages attendance and logistics for participants at all events.

Develops and leads pre-departure webinar for participants prior to their enrichment field trips and develops reflection session to be delivered by IIE staff on site during trips.

Represents IIE by attending 6-8 enrichment events per year and troubleshoots on-site issues with participants during enrichment field trips.

Satisfies regular and ad hoc reporting requirements.

Ensures compliance with applicable contract and sponsor requirements, and IIE policies and procedures.

Performs other related duties and functions as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience:

Education and Work Experience:

Requires a Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Experience in projects and tasks involving complex details which require well-developed organizational, time-management and administrative skills.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to read and interpret documents such as contracts, policy and procedure manuals and write complex reports and correspondence.

Ability to interact with all levels of staff and external contacts; sensitive to cultural differences when working with people from other cultures.

Knowledge of STEM businesses, related fields of study, and current trends in these areas including but not limited to artificial intelligence, energy engineering, biotechnology, and physical sciences.

Ability to demonstrate sound judgment in consulting with and keeping others informed.

Ability to easily adapt to changing organizational, program and sponsor needs and a fast-paced work environment; work independently without close supervision and as part of a team.

Proficiency with MS Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.

Willingness and availability to travel within the United States 6-8 times per year.

Excellent presentation and delivery skills.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Experience studying or working with Korea preferred.

Experience with Korean language preferred.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary Range: $69,630-80,495. A candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, job-related knowledge, skills, abilities, internal organizational equity, and geographic region.
