Job Title: Student Services Specialist Category: Student Support Services
BROOKINGS-HARBOR SCHOOL DISTRICT 17C
Brookings-Harbor High School Student Services Specialist 2024-2025 School Year
PURPOSE: Brookings-Harbor School District 17C is seeking applicants for the position of full-time Student Services Specialist. The successful candidate provides leadership in the school by being aligned with the district and schools mission to promote academic, social/emotional, and college/career development ensuring equity and access for all students.
REPORTS TO: Principal or Vice Principal
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Uses skills of leadership, advocacy, and collaboration to create systemic change to improve the academic, social/emotional, and post-secondary success of all our students. Delivers developmentally appropriate activities and services directly and indirectly to students. Assess at-risk student/youth needs and develop individualized youth service plans for dropout prevention. Develop an educational plan in collaboration with school-of-origin staff that provides progress toward successful graduation. Monitor progress and daily attendance of at-risk students at school and community-based services and/or work. Collaborate/Consult with students/families/teachers/staff/administrators for student success Foster family and community partnerships. Provide referrals for long-term support. Advocate for students. Data Analysis to identify student issues, needs, and challenges. Maintain communication with teachers on missing assignments, grades, and support services, as applicable. Outreach and assist families to overcome barriers to academic success/contributing community member, provide information and guidance to parents on effective parenting strategies to support his/her child to be successful. Serves as a resource, as requested by the supervisor, to community agencies or parent organizations dealing with substance abuse and violence prevention programs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree or higher in education or other acceptable educational training. Valid Oregon teaching license- Limited Student Service License.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The Specialist works primarily within the school building. Although the primary work is indoors, the Specialist frequently works outdoors supervising students, in variable weather conditions including inclement weather. The incumbent must be able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time. The incumbent will need to walk quickly at times, as well as speak and hear in often loud environments.
The position involves high level of interaction with students and families from multiple and diverse backgrounds many who have particular or unique needs. The mental demands on the Specialist are considerable. The incumbent must maintain control under stress, and must manage him/herself in the presence of emotionally challenging interactions with staff, students, and parents.
Planning and assessing and communicating with student and families includes frequent, prolonged, and irregular hours including evening and weekend time.
Work Year: 11-month Employee Group: BHEA Licensed FLSA Status: Exempt Date Revised: March 2024 Salary Range: $45,975-86,118 + 3% Specialist Factor + 10 extra preparation days added to contract
