Job Description

The salary range for this role is $95,000-$110,000. Relocation is available if required.

This position has a flexible hybrid schedule that varies based on department needs.

The Hamilton Lugar School (HLS) is one of the newest and largest international and global affairs schools in the nation. It is home to over 22 centers, programs, and departments that are focused on critical world regions, processes, and languages. The school combines research informed by a deep knowledge of languages and cultures with the latest social science techniques and specialized training in cybersecurity, international law, and high-level linguistic proficiencies. We strive to educate principled civic leaders with a sophisticated global vision and cultural competency skills of the highest caliber. Our alumni pursue careers in a broad range of fields, occupying prominent positions in government, think tanks, academia, non-profits, and private businesses across the world.

The Senior Director of Development plays an integral role in furthering the school's vision and growth through philanthropic and outreach efforts by building a comprehensive solicitation strategy, with emphasis on growing and managing a portfolio of prospects. The Senior Director will personally conduct a minimum number of substantive contacts and solicitations each year. The successful candidate for this position should also be an excellent people leader, as they will be responsible for hiring and leading a small team to aid in meeting the school’s philanthropic goals.

The Senior Director will be adept at building relationships in cross-cultural environments, and should share a passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion, as the school is the hub of international activity on a diverse campus that annually welcomes students from 137 countries. This leader must have the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders and should have a passion for area studies and international affairs. Dean John Ciorciari assumed his role on March 1, 2024 and this is an exciting time for a strategic fundraiser to lead efforts for the dynamic Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies.
