Special Education Student Services Director District Wide

As the Special Education Student Services Director, you contribute to this mission by serving as a champion for the development and implementation of exceptional special education programs and student support services for the District. Some of what you will do:
- Lead, manage, and supervise the Special Education Student Services department, including staff, programs, and budget.
- Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and support staff to ensure the integration of student services within the overall educational framework.
- Lead a team of professionals dedicated to creating inclusive environments and fostering the academic, social, physical and mental health and emotional development of all students.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and review of individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations related to special education, including but not limited to IDEA, ADA and Section 504.
Who we are looking for: To become part of this dedicated team, you are a visionary leader who fosters a culture of collaboration, inclusion and professionalism within the department and the District at large. Qualifications include a combination of education and experience equal to:
- A Master's degree from an accredited institution; an emphasis in special education preferred.
- A minimum of three years teaching experience that includes special education programs and student support services.
- A valid teaching certificate in conjunction with a valid administrative endorsement and course work related to Special Education.
- Administration experience preferred, ideally directly related to special education.
Professional competencies include:
- Ability to plan, organize, provide leadership, and work collaboratively with mid-to-large sized teams.
- Develop short and long-range plans in relation to assigned responsibilities and for purposes of implementing programming and services in compliance with regulations.
- Exhibit strong interpersonal skills to create trusting and productive relationships.
- Communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form.
- Strong organizational skills with outstanding attention to detail.
- Remain current and knowledgeable of legal requirements governing special education, including 504 laws, and possess the ability to convey that information to others.
- Work effectively with computer and software programs to perform the duties of the position; learn and utilize District applications.
Successful candidates enjoy being mobile throughout the day to regularly interact with diverse groups and are able to balance multiple demands at the same time.
