Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Associate Dean of Administration & Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Assistant Dean of Enrollment and Student Services (ADESS) is responsible for leading integrated student services functions at UCLA Extension. Their leadership drives the strategic planning for a wide range of student service business functions and units including the Registrar, Marketing and Enrollment Management, the Center for Academic Advising and Student Success, Financial Aid, and Career Services.
The ADESS is responsible for the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of a comprehensive enrollment management plan based on the student lifecycle, from enquiry through attainment of educational goals. The incumbent is charged with delivering service excellence and actively contributing to institution-wide enrollment, retention, persistence, and completion efforts. The ADESS is responsible for developing, tracking, and maintaining an annual operating budget of $2.5 million as well as allocating all department financial resources.

Qualifications
Minimum of 8 years Career progression and experience in higher education administration. (Required) Demonstrated knowledge and expertise of Student Services and Student Affairs operations and practices, preferably in a public or private university setting - with extensive knowledge of continuing education and adult learners to more effectively create services that will support student experience and success. Possesses broad understanding and stays knowledgeable of current trends in retention and student success, enrollment management, financial aid strategy, and general issues in continuing education. (Required)Highly effective ability to create and articulate a vision for an exceptional UCLA Extension student experience, to commit that vision to strategy, and to lead cross-functional teams in the implementation and assessment of strategic initiatives - demonstrating connective and service leadership ability as well as exceptional experience in leading complex and dynamic teams. (Required)Outstanding organizational and analytical skills to manage multiple projects and perform efficiently and courteously in a fast-paced environment that maintains a fluctuating workload, conflicting and competing priorities, and frequent distractions and interruptions; Proven ability to organize department work functions efficiently and effectively. Set priorities, meet deadlines, and follow through on multiple tasks and projects with attention to detail. (Required)Knowledge of UCLA and UCLA Extension policy and practice, including UC Senate Regulations and Bylaws, and UC policies as they relate to student services and conduct. (Preferred)Knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act and Strict adherence to the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) laws and compliance with the University's payment card security standards; Highly knowledgeable of regulatory compliance in student services, including federal rules and regulations as well as applicable professional standards. (Required)Strong and effective verbal skills and written communication skills that are logical, concise, and grammatically correct. (Required)Exceptional ability to gather and analyze data and demonstrated skill in writing analytical reports that explain policies, procedures, project proposals and timelines, budget requests, etc. (Required)Exceptional ability to design, generate, present, and discuss clear, concise, and detailed narrative reports with advanced operational skills including business acumen for determining cost-efficient student services processes, research and data analysis skills for reviewing performance metrics, skills in financial forecasting to keep student services budget on track to meet goals, understanding of policies and practices to foster a healthy and productive workplace. Broad knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques; human resources and risk management planning. (Required)Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to initiate and maintain cooperative, effective working relationships with academic and staff employees (at all levels) and the public. Demonstrated management and conflict resolution skills to effectively lead and motivate others. (Required)High proficiency and capabilities of standard computer office applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint or other productivity software, along with thorough experience working with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools. (Required)Demonstrated ability to effectively work with diverse stakeholders and functional teams to keep operations and management consistent, well-coordinated, and iterative for the day-to-day high functioning of the department. (Required)Highly experienced in conducting institutional research and utilizing related data assessment and trend analysis tools. (Required)

- UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.
