Honoring the teachings of the Catholic Church and the traditions of Catholic education, the educator occupying this position will provide the school's Principal with ongoing support in spiritual, administrative, and supervisory capacities.

To this end, the Vice Principal of Student Affairs will support and reinforce the Principal in all matters dealing with the operation of Bishop Kelly High School and assist in planning, organizing, staffing, and directing the activities of the school.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Faith Leadership:
  • Integrate Catholic values and teachings into all student affairs and support services.
  • Collaborate with the campus ministry team to enrich the spiritual life of the school community.
  • Lead and participate in school liturgies, prayer services, and faith-based programs.

Student Wellbeing and Pastoral Care:
  • Works with the counseling team to oversee initiatives that support the holistic development of students in alignment with Catholic teachings.
  • Provide pastoral care and guidance to students, addressing their spiritual, emotional, and social needs.
  • Develop and implement policies that create a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all students.
  • Plan and execute student orientation that involves them in the mission of the school.

Leadership and Staff Collaboration:
  • Work closely with the Principal and other administrators to align student affairs with the school's Catholic mission.
  • Mentor and support faculty and staff in incorporating faith-based principles in their interaction with students.
  • Facilitate professional development opportunities focused on faith-based education and student support.
  • Assist the Principal in supervising and evaluating faculty and staff.

Community and Parental Engagement:
  • Foster strong relationships with the wider Catholic community, including parishes, diocesan offices, and other Catholic organizations.
  • Engage parents and families in the spiritual and academic life of their children through regular communication and involvement opportunities.

Academic and Disciplinary Oversight:
  • Assist in the supervision of the academic program, ensuring it reflects Catholic values.
  • Manage student discipline, attendance, and dress code in a manner that is compassionate and reflective of Christian teachings.
  • Assist in the supervision of student activities (dances, proms, plays, etc.).

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION OF VICE-PRINCIPAL OF BKHS:

For the position of Vice Principal of Student Affairs, the ideal candidate would have the following qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Educational Administration, or a related field, with a preference for candidates with a background in Catholic education.
  • Valid state certification in school administration, or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in educational leadership, preferably in a Catholic school setting.
  • Deep understanding and personal commitment to the Catholic faith and its educational mission.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire, engage, and work effectively with students, staff, and the community in a faith-based environment.
  • Demonstrates values and behaviors consistent with the BK Way culture (above).

EVALUATION: The Principal evaluates the performance of the Vice Principal of Student Affairs annually. The evaluation of the Vice Principal will be guided by the mission of the school, the strategic plan, the role description, the input from staff, the goals proposed by the Vice Principal, and the Personnel Policies of the Diocese of Boise. A written evaluation shall be provided to the Vice Principal.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS: Employment terms will be addressed in a written employment contract.

REPORTS TO: Bishop Kelly High School Principal

SUPERVISES: Certified and classified staff members as designated by the Principal of Bishop Kelly High School.
