Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

The Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs is responsible for the strategic and long-term planning for all aspects of academic and student affairs for USC Salkehatchie with two campuses located in Walterboro and Allendale, South Carolina. Responsible for the oversight of all academic programs, including assessment and evaluation of the curriculum. Provides leadership to the faculty and manages the processes through which teaching is conducted and evaluated. Administers all aspects of Student Affairs to include creating a robust student life strategy specific to the students needs.

The Associate Dean will teach two classes per academic year.

Required to work at both campuses.

Required Education and Experience
  • Earned doctorate from an accredited university.
  • Substantial record of progressively responsible leadership that includes high-level administrative or managerial experience, collaborative success, advanced knowledge of and experience in higher education processes and policies and procedures.
  • Achievement in the criteria required for a faculty appointment with tenure and rank.
  • Experience with accreditation agencies/bodies.
  • Evidence of success with student enrollment growth and management.
  • Proven ability to develop and foster good relationships with both internal campus stakeholders as well as external audiences such as local, state, and national agencies.
  • Promote a collegial, inclusive, and constructive environment based on open communication, positive team building, and effective management of relationships

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with developing, coordinating, and delivering distance education programs.
  • Experience with high school dual enrollment programs.
  • Experience with student learning and/or academic program assessment.
