Position: Student Advisor - Counseling Certificate
Exempt Certified Professional, Full-Time, 12-month Staff
District Employee Assigned to Pryor Campus
Starting Date: July 1, 2024
Reports to: Campus Director
Schedule: General work schedule of 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday-Friday, unless the assignment requires additional time for completion.
Compensation
Package: $78,675 minimum annually, plus a salary supplement of $5,310 - $8,395 annually commensurate with experience. Health, dental, vision, paid life insurance, and teachers' retirement paid; flexible benefits plan; sick leave, vacation, and paid holidays. The total minimum compensation package is approximately $104,766 annually.
Primary
Function: The primary focus will be to work in a Counseling capacity in the Student Service office with both prospective and current students. May provide assistance with the following duties: recruitment of students, providing students with information on career options, advising them on appropriate educational career clusters and pathways to meet their career goals, and providing students with the necessary support for success in their programs.
Education: Earned Master's degree in School Counseling or related field.
Experience: Knowledge/experience in Instructional Leadership, including working with students' behavior, academic achievement progress, Curriculum Development, Plans of Study, Career Clusters and Pathways, Oklahoma's Promise, and student portfolios. Knowledge/experience with Student Organizations and student recruitment and retention desired.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Comply with all state and federal laws, and policies and procedures of the school district.
- Attend meetings and provide information to the Superintendent and/or Campus Director as requested.
- Ensure that a minimum of instructional time is utilized for non-instructional routines in an effort to maximize time on task.
- Work with all district staff in a professional manner to promote and improve instruction.
- Monitor student progress and recognize academic achievements.
- Assist in the recruitment of students for programs.
- Consult with the Communications Director regarding promotional materials.
- Provide formal presentations at partner high schools: participate in job and college fairs as well as community and civic events to raise awareness of technical training opportunities.
- Develop and enhance positive working relationships with partner school personnel, and seek input and feedback from sending school personnel in order to improve program offerings district-wide.
- Work cooperatively with Career Readiness Center personnel to provide advice to students and the community in all facets of the educational realm, including career development.
- Initiate self-understanding and awareness of students' potential in academic and technical areas.
- Present students a logical and realistic approach to gaining his/her ultimate place in society. Provide activities to address the needs of the students.
- Consult with teachers, staff, and parents to enhance their effectiveness in helping students.
- Provide guidance to students to acquire knowledge in several areas: career exploration, self-awareness, secondary and postsecondary educational and training information, job search skills, and employability skills.
- Analyze information about individuals through interview, test results, and records in order to evaluate students' interests, aptitudes, abilities, and personality characteristics, for career planning and recruitment for technical training at all campuses; assist campus director with admissions and enrollment.
- Assist in the development and enhancement of Individual Career Plans of Study as completed by the Career Readiness Center for all students.
- Provide information for students regarding opportunities for post-secondary education, financial aid, military, and higher education.
- May provide assistance to partner schools with the development, implementation and maintaining Plans of Study.
- Maintain and improve professional competence through participation in professional activities.
- Participate in an annual evaluation of performance with the Campus Director.
- Regular attendance following a designated work schedule. Must be able to work scheduled and extended hours and additional days/evenings as required by position responsibilities.
- Perform all duties as assigned by the Campus Director and/or Superintendent to carry out the objectives, policies, and procedures of the school district. Any other responsibilities or duties assigned by the Supervisor or Superintendent.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- Earned Master's degree in School Counseling or related field required.
- Valid Oklahoma School Secondary Counseling Certificate required, Career Technology experience preferred.
- Cannot be related to any of the currently seated school board members within the second degree of affinity or consanguinity.
- Must pass required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
- Must have knowledge of current school laws related to instruction in the classroom.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously with associated deadlines and be proficient in record keeping, prioritizing, and scheduling.
- Must have the ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment, discretion in the performance of duties, and know the importance of confidentiality.
- Must have excellent communication skills and human relations skills, especially with secondary and adult students.
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
- Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities.
- Must be capable of being calm with and professional with numerous different personalities at various levels within and outside of Northeast Tech.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office computer programs: Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word.
Training and Meeting Requirements:
- View or attend required Safety Training either by video or in person on a quarterly basis.
- Attend professional development training opportunities as required by district policy.
- Attend meetings and provide information to the Administration or Board of Education as requested.
Work Environment:
- Operate in a professional office environment.
- Routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Physical, Mental Demands, and Dependability:
- Light physical effort is required, for example, loading paper in a copier answering and returning phone calls.
