POSITION TITLE: Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) Student Coordinator START
DATE: Open Until Filled
CAMPUS/DEPARTMENT: Ranger Campus/HSI Department
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Hispanic Student Coordinator (HSC) will conduct community
and high school outreach to provide information about higher education. The HSC will build relationships with the
Hispanic community organizations in the college service area. The HSC will promote attendance to family members
of incoming students and design Spanish-language sessions. This is a five-year, Department of Education grant
funded position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Continually collaborate with the HSI Project Director to fulfill the objectives outlined in the grant proposal.
● Facilitate college access to underserved students through summer orientation programs and year-long
student support services.
● Develops relationships with community organizations and school districts and makes presentations to
students and parents regarding higher education options.
● Responsible for Hispanic student orientation and communication with families.
● Serves as a liaison for Hispanic community college transfer students.
● Serves as a resource for Hispanic and low-income students during their time at Ranger College
● Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to maintain and enhance relationships with community
organizations, high schools, facilitating collaboration and promoting the HSI grant program.
● The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the unique needs of underrepresented
students.
● May require travel to satellite campuses.
● Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
● Bachelors degree required; Master's degree preferred
● Ability to speak and write Spanish is required.
● Familiarity with higher education admissions, registration, and financial aid processes preferred.
● Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
● Knowledge in Hispanic community organizations as a student, volunteer, or staff member preferred.
ANNUAL SALARY/BENEFITS: Highly competitive and commensurate with experience and credentials. Group health
and life insurance (60 day waiting period for health) and retirement benefits (TRS or ORP). Optional benefits include disability
and dental insurance.
