Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.
  • Makes decisions and demonstrates support of the mission, vision, goals, and interests of the district and of students.
  • Communicates collaborates and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, staff, and guests.
  • Maintains confidentiality of student and staff information. Utilizes confidential and personal information for professional purposes only in accordance with school district policy and regulations.
  • Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, and students.
  • Evaluates on an ongoing basis, the Student Services curriculum, e.g. Creative Curriculum, and individual supports and achievements.
  • Supervises and coordinates special education classroom programs and transitions from Early Intervention transition process.
  • Compiles and maintains legally required and useful reports and records.
  • Consults with the Early Childhood Diagnostic Teams.
  • Schedules and plans early childhood special education meetings.
  • Interprets the objectives and programs of the Student Services department to the staff and public.
  • Ensures adherence to federal and state due process procedures.
  • Ensures adherence to all Early Childhood Special Education policies and procedures.
  • Consults with parents/guardians.
  • Consults with Child and Family Connection during the Early Intervention transition process.
  • Collaborates with community agencies for outside referrals.
  • Provides programming ideas to supplement regular classroom instruction.
  • Keeps informed of all legal requirements governing Special Education.
  • Assists in the adaptation of school policies to include special education needs.
  • Coordinates out of district placements for students in need of private or public day school programs.
  • Consults and advises on students who have social, emotional, and/or behavioral needs.
  • Assists in implementation of SEL programs, e.g. Pyramid Model and PBIS

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements:
  • Current valid Illinois Professional Educator License with Administrative endorsement required.
  • Current valid Illinois Professional Educator License with an endorsement in Early Childhood teaching, School Psychologist, School Social Worker, Speech Pathologist or other related service required.
  • Experience as an early childhood special education teacher, school psychologist, social worker, speech pathologist, other related service provider, and/or administrator.
  • Experience with school or district committees.
  • Experience with assessment practices and data analysis
  • Demonstrated excellence in human relation skills, communication and presentation skills and strong technology skills.
  • Demonstrated excellence as an educational leader with strong organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Experience with mental health, behavior analysis and designing intervention plans for students, preferred.

Salary/Benefits

District 62 offers excellent benefits, including Board paid individual health benefits.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $88,000
