Position Summary
Gannon University seeks to transform lives by creating environments for extraordinary moments and everyday connections that inspire others to become their best selves. The Center for Social Concerns (CSC) animates the University Mission and primary aim of “transforming lives and fostering transformation” through high impact engagement initiatives and local and global community partnerships that help our students become socially responsible global citizens. The Program Assistant of the CSC joins a dynamic team seeking to engage and accompany students as they discover and explore their values, passions, and purpose, and as they engage the world around them through service and cultural exploration.
The Program Assistant will nurture student, employee, and community engagement through the organization of Gannon’s annual campus-wide days of service (GIVE Day and Day of Caring) and through the support of community engagement initiatives (including St. Joseph House of Faith in Action programming and supporting co-curricular service). The Program Assistant will support other CSC events and programs including the Alternative Break Service Trip (ABST) program and advocacy and awareness initiatives (e.g., Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, Fair Trade initiatives, and more), and will contribute to advancing University initiatives and goals in this role. Supporting the holistic development of students will be central to all dimensions of this work, including accompanying students on their personal exploration of values and worldview.
Required Qualifications
• Must be able to support and promote the University’s Mission
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Demonstrated skills in event planning and management of logistics.
• Ability to work well with university faculty, administrators, staff, and students as well as local and global community partners to achieve program goals.
• Excellent written and oral communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to set goals and complete projects with a high degree of independence.
• Competence with business productivity software (e.g., Microsoft Office 365) and willingness to learn traditional and emerging technologies used in a higher education environment.
• Current valid driver’s license and driving record required to meet University requirements for approved drivers.
Preferred Qualifications
One to three years of work experience in a higher education and/or community engagement setting.
Physical Demands
• Must be able to meet the physical demands associate with the high-energy and robust pace of a university environment.
• The ability to travel domestically and/or internationally is preferred.
