Position Summary
Reporting to the Executive Director of the Center for Diversity and Inclusion, the Director serves as an integral member of the Student Affairs Diversity & Inclusion cluster as the campus' lead on Intergroup Dialogue programming.
This individual develops, maintains, and manages a designed platform to engage students' diverse worldviews, increase dialogic literacy and build bridges between communities that share differing perspectives.

Salary Range
$64,700.00 - $110,500.00 / Annually
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.

Position Summary

Intergroup Dialogue Programming:
- Advances our ability to provide our students dialogue skills that aim to decrease polarization and increase understanding of each other's experiences;
- Engages students across the identity spectrum and create opportunities for courageous conversations that will impact their growth as co-creators of the WashU community and engaged citizens in local and global contexts;
- Helps students overcome barriers to difficult dialogues, strengthen the foundation of campus relationships, and support social and civic engagement at WashU.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Defines, develops and implements programs that support student development related to dialogue across difference. The Director works with campus constituencies to incorporate conversational skill-building into the academic setting, inside and outside of the classroom.
- Oversees Dialogue across Difference as the content expert for curriculum development, assessment, course learning outcomes, delivery and management of instructional staff.
- Offers consultation, guidance and advocacy for multiple university constituents including students, faculty, and administrators.
- Represents Student Affairs on panels, working groups, committees, etc.
- Provides support and connection for intergroup dialogue between the university and off-campus constituent groups including parents, alumni and the greater St. Louis community.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of five to seven years of experience in a higher education institution, student affairs division, and/or leading initiatives related to intergroup dialogue in a college or related institution.
- Doctorate desirable.
- Experience in or an understanding of the role of student affairs in higher education.
- Experience working with students or young adults.
- Skills to advance Washington University's commitment to diversity, freedom of expression, and openness to dialogue.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, establish priorities, and work collaboratively as a member of a diverse community.
- Ability to assess the needs of students, faculty, and staff and offer appropriate support; experience with and commitment to working with individuals of diverse cultural, racial, ethnic, religious backgrounds, and people of various gender identities and/or sexual orientations.
- Excellent interpersonal, listening, writing, oral communication, and public speaking skills.
- Strong consultation skills and ability to work collaboratively with others.
- Latitude for independent judgment.
