The Division of Enrollment Management supports the university mission through the recruitment and retention of students and the coordination of university events such as commencements. The division coordinates the university's enrollment activities to promote an inclusive environment that fosters a successful transition to college through graduation. The following offices comprise the division:
The Office of Admissions at JMU is responsible for the marketing and promotion, recruitment, application processing, and admission of first-time and transfer undergraduate students, including international, military, and home-school applicants.
Reporting to the Vice President of Enrollment Planning, the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management and Director of Admissions, leads the Office of Admissions and supervises all areas within the office, including recruitment and selection, operations and processing, access programming, visitor experience, transfer, international and military populations.

Reporting to the Vice President of Enrollment Planning, the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management and Director of Admissions, leads the Office of Admissions and supervises all areas within the office, including recruitment and selection, operations and processing, access programming, visitor experience, transfer, international and military populations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for directing all undergraduate admission operations for the university by providing leadership for all areas within the office including recruitment, admission, and yield.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate five direct reports and ensure the training and professional growth of all employees. Create leadership, training, and mentoring opportunities for staff that focus on access and outreach.
- Works closely with the VP for Enrollment Management to develop and implement the admissions recruitment outreach and recruitment strategies including prospective student pipelines.
- Uses a data informed decision making approach and implements assessment methods to monitor strategies.
- Develop, review and modify as appropriate the selection policies and procedures for first-year and transfer selection.
- Collaborate with the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships on allocation of recruitment scholarships.
- Coordinate strategies with colleges and other divisions for involvement in efforts to recruit, conduct events, build educational partnerships, implement initiatives and other recruitment efforts for undergraduate admission.
- Develop and monitor data related to enrollment forecasting and trend analysis to use in decision-making.
- Develop an enrollment management strategy by creating and implementing innovative services, activities and opportunities that increase student retention, persistence and graduation rates.
- Represents the institution; serve on university committees.
- Manage the office budget and use resources effectively.
Qualifications:
Extensive experience in undergraduate admissions work with demonstrated knowledge in:
- Excellent communication and organization skills. Ability to communicate with a wide variety of constituencies (e.g., faculty, administrators, students, parents, board members, etc.).
- Experience as a partner in enrollment management and student success initiatives.
- Marketing and communications; use of data to make informed decisions.
- Ability to lead, supervise, motivate and initiate change. Team-orientated leadership.
- Knowledge of current trends, best practices, and new strategies in recruitment and retention.
- Ability to deal confidentially and responsibly with sensitive personnel matters and prospective student data.
- Master's degree or higher.
